Hey pedes, just wanted to vent for a moment.
I just got home from a (rare) job interview where I'm 99% sure I won't be offered the job. I'm tired. I'm tired of applying to hundreds of jobs and not hearing anything back. I'm tired of having my time wasted with interviews companies have just so they can say they searched for applicants right before they hire the boss' nephew. I'm tired of job postings with whole paragraphs dedicated to how diverse and inclusive they are, and how much they adhere to tyrannical covid guidelines.
It just feels like there's no place for me. I even considered joining the army, but I couldn't bring myself to work for a government I don't respect. Before 2021 I wanted to move to the USA with all you wonderful people (I'm Australian), but covid restrictions locked that down, and now with Biden in charge I'm reticent.
At this point I kinda just want to die in glorious battle defending the Republic. It just feels like straight white males have no place in modern society.
Anyway, that's my blackpill for the day. I can only hope the Trump Train gets so loud and so fast it wakes up the normies and there'll be at least on place in the world that hasn't succumbed to the false song of globalism.
you can freelance. you can create your own projects. you can join projects with others for no pay, just exposure and experience. volunteer at local charity/church/community. all on the side.
create your portfolio website asap. ask for feedback.
learn more skills. SEO, coding, databasing... auto repair, plumbing, carpentry... cooking, cleaning, farming... workout, lift weights, martial arts... be creative, be active, be a stud... do not drink or drug... do things that make you proud of yourself... and do a good job at whatever you are doing so you can be proud of yourself...
people want local, english speaking designers for their communication skills, schedules and accessibility. otherwise, they'd outsource to a million foreign designers. make sure you're a good person to work with. negativity, low self esteem and entitlement are big red flags, stamp those traits out asap.
stop whining. "99% sure" blah blah, you'll guarantee failure with that attitude, which i'm assuming you had going in to the interview.
read or listen to robert glover's no more mr nice guy. over and over. same for jordan peterson's 12 rules. then 48 laws of power. then how to make friends and influence people. and listen/watch tony robbins in between.
