Humans don't perceive temperatures as what they actually are, so they are trying to be more useful for everyday people who care more about how cold it feels rather than how cold it actually is. Don't think there is any malice here, think you are overthinking this one.

and then think they are living through the end times because temps these days are 120+ and -100 vs the old recorded temps of 100 and -50.. the real feel temps are being recorded as ACTUAL temp! you don't see the problem here when charting vs standard dry-bulb temp
