They make the electrical components that run the grid. Think Huawei but industrial electric equipment instead of consumer electronics. I think Trump’s EO banned the purchase of Chinese components for use in the electric grid. While it’s bad optics I don’t think Biden rescinding the EO has much to do with current outages. Electrical components would not be quickly swapped out. Cyber attack maybe if they started using software again like SolarWinds, but the ice is real, polar vortexes like that happen frequently, so seems to be enough here to count out the Chinese. I’m happy to be proven wrong with evidence to the contrary though. Bigger immediate question, where the hell is the Biden admin when Texas needs help? Trump would have been all over this sending in help.
