Someone made a post asking why do a lot of women vote left, and while there are many reasons, I really do think that abortion laws are the biggest reason for this. I love babies and hate pedos and I hate the idea of babies being killed but I tried to put myself in other women's shoes and thought of it in the same way I think about gun laws.
I want to run far away from any state that infringes on gun rights even a little bit, because I'm afraid of that slippery slope once those start getting put into place. I know that places exist where it's hard to get an abortion even if you were raped, and I can see the bitterness and unfairness of that situation and, from an average woman's point of view, I can understand them wanting to run far away from any state with even slight anti-abortion laws, in fear of a slippery slope.
I actually know a few girls who vote purely on abortion laws. It's all they care about and when I think of it like this, I can honestly understand the fear of a slippery slope (maybe they're actually convinced that 'evil' christians are gonna take over, who knows what they're thinking, clearly they don't like our ideas though). And at the same time it makes me so incredibly angry when I see a woman being careless about sex life and accidental pregnancies because babies lives are not something to be taken lightly. And I also know that if a child is born out of rape, or born without a father for any reason (doesn't matter why), that unfortunately tends to make that child more likely to grow up to be a criminal which is still just shitty and costly for a society TBH.
I just wanted to start a discussion about this, I honestly wish we could find some middle ground where women can be 100% sure that if they're raped it won't completely uproot their life and that part of the law would never change, but at the same time I absolutely LOATHE that it's so common to be careless and have that as a fallback. There needs to be a cultural change, how the hell do we get people to stop wanting to sleep around before marriage, because I still haven't been able to wrap my head around a solution to this problem. I don't want babies growing up in a shitty environment and I also don't want girls lives to be completely ruined when they're raped, and I also don't want ANY babies to have to be killed. To truly solve this, men and women would need to WANT to wait until marriage, so how do we go back to that? We had that once. Is our culture too far gone now and we can never go back to this?
Guaranteed some of my friends wouldn't vote left if they weren't so concerned about abortion laws. I want to do something about this and don't know what. How to convince people? Thanks for reading my wall of text, I couldn't sleep
Yes and babies being killed makes my blood boil but this is where we're at now, we're in a culture war and somehow half of this country has been convinced that it's a great idea to sleep around and be careless about babies lives, and I have no idea how we're going to fix this, this didn't just happen overnight, there are consequences just as large if we simply tell people "you're on your own" when they literally fuck around and find out, the only way is to truly get people to WANT to wait until marriage I think, and I have no idea how to do this seeing how this is America and clearly telling people what to do isn't an option
This does seem like a really hopeless situation, maybe people will end up just naturally moving to states where they are fine with paying for people's abortions or to states where part of the culture is to wait until marriage and know that they won't have to pay for people's abortions, but still I'm wishing there was a way to have NO states like this? People keep leaving their shitty left states and going into others and vote for the same crap that made them leave, maybe the anti-abortion laws are the only thing that will truly keep that from happening. But then what keeps people from just going out of state to get an abortion? It's so overwhelming I keep thinking of things I didn't think of before.
I wish more women would watch one of those abortion videos so they could see what actually happens in a abortion. I think that would change minds.
