You know... I have a computer. Computers are expensive. They're sensitive. They do not like having their power shut off while they're on. I would be beyond pissed if my power company started pulling the crap these people pull out west.
We buy very robust power supplies I'm a huge fan of Seagate. and you have a separate hard drive for your operating system. Modern SSD drives are great for this, you reload the OS and you don't lose your data.
