Capitalism at its worst is still better than collectivism at its best.

69
mintscape 69 points ago +70 / -1

He should not have added "Capitalism at its finest" in that tweet, ERCOT being scum has nothing to do with Capitalism and ERCOT is even a non-profit 501c4 organization.

In America our current capitalism is corrupt because there is a lot of collectivism and socialism in it, only the rich benefit from the socialism however.

5
tufftoffee 5 points ago +5 / -0

How does the company being non-profit or having to deal with regulations justify this?

4
glow-operator-2-0 4 points ago +4 / -0

What's ERCOT?

8
PKShadilay 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's the private company that's holding the Texas power grid hostage and is responsible for millions not having power for the last 58 hours.

4
Eric-CIA-ramella 4 points ago +4 / -0

Shitstains that didn't increase power output two days prior because they know exactly what they are doing to sabotage the state.

1
glow-operator-2-0 1 point ago +1 / -0

Must be a utility management entity then

1
Eric-CIA-ramella 1 point ago +1 / -0

It is, their grid manager for most of the state.

25
Moniie 25 points ago +25 / -0

I don’t think this is capitalism at its worst. Someone is purposely doing this

27
Pepe1776_ 27 points ago +28 / -1

It's not free market capitalism that's for sure but more in line with the type of cronyism found in authoritarian bureaucracies be they communist, fascist or otherwise.

15
AIRHORN4TRUMP 15 points ago +15 / -0

This is not capitalism. These power companies are under so many regulations they spend millions having full time compliance people on board. Just visit http://www.ercot.com/mktrules/compliance/

They probably have to follow something like 150+ standards some created in good faith but are ridiculous, some not.

10
Americanapplepie [S] 10 points ago +10 / -0

Correct.

1
tufftoffee 1 point ago +1 / -0

Can you even call this capitalism or a republic when it's corporations are simply an extension of the government all pinned against individuals?

Talking about the failings of "green" energy no one wanted in the first place because their leaders thought it was a good idea? What about the wall being halted?

41
DoubleEagle 41 points ago +41 / -0

Socialist environmentalism causes a problem that it can't possibly fix, capitalism fixes the problem, at great expense... capitalism bad.

Expect a lot more of this exact tactic over the coming years.

11
DicksOutForPepe16 11 points ago +11 / -0

Toppers of Keks to you, good sir.

31
el-y0y0s 31 points ago +31 / -0

Fuck this leftist. Gas companies that hedged like 95% of gas companies in texas do not have this problem. They hedged.

Those companies that did not hedge are hurting and are passing the consequence to their customers. Those customers purchased a variable gas pricing plan to get cheap rates, are now understanding what they purchased.

28
Beat_to_Quarters 28 points ago +28 / -0

ya blame capitalism for the green new deal socialist policies. lmao. "Real green new deal has never been tried!"

21
DicksOutForPepe16 21 points ago +21 / -0

You know what really grinds my gears? That last bit. Crony capitalism is about as real as GOP RINOs.

16
Dialectic 16 points ago +16 / -0

Vaccines spoiling will probably save more lives than you lose in your cold spell

6
D0NNIE_DARK0 6 points ago +6 / -0

They aren’t vaccines. They are experimental therapies that’s why they require refrigeration. We have treatments that are cheap, portable, and don’t drain power.

4
LoobintheToobin 4 points ago +4 / -0

And not just any refrigeration, colder than Antarctica... cause reasons. Trust us.... crazy eyes

2
Americanapplepie [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Troof!

Independenceforever 16 points ago +18 / -2

STOP STICKING VACCINE PROPAGANDA INTO EVERY FUCKING TALKING POINT. THEY'RE A DEADLY EXPERIMENTAL EXTERMINATION BIOWEAPON. WHY THE FUCK ARE PEOPLE WORSHIPPING MAGIC POTIONS?

1
Spezz 1 point ago +1 / -0

manufactured fear from the gubmits will make normies do crazy things

14
RoosterRaiser 14 points ago +14 / -0

I'm in far north Missouri and they are warning us about natural gas now too. I think they are trying to redirect resources to TX and help out. Our school even cancelled today due to reducing electric & natural gas use. Plus, it's still butt cold here. Going on 2 weeks of near zero or below temps.

Thankful we burn wood for heat and can keep house as warm as we like.

5
anesPEDEsia 5 points ago +5 / -0

Industrious pede could make a bundle in TX starting up a wood stove installation company and firewood delivery service

5
Mathelm 5 points ago +5 / -0

Which will be good business for the next week plus. Might fall off after.

2
anesPEDEsia 2 points ago +2 / -0

True that. Up here in the northeast there’s a lot of roughnecks out of work. It would be easy money for a couple weeks. Better than no work

13
PurestEvil 13 points ago +13 / -0

Ah yes, Capitalism. Aka mandating Green Energy, and then complaining when shit hits the fan.

I mean, the energy industry is basically deeply socialist and government dominated... yet "Capitalism" is to blame?

11
HowlinMad 11 points ago +11 / -0

I’ve suspected there was something off about all the outages from a few hours in. l live in Dallas and haven’t lost power once, so I figure we must have some elites nearby. Lucky me.

4
Americanapplepie [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

My fren that I got this from lives in the Dallas area as well and from what she told me, they haven’t lost any power yet either.

2
kfh14 2 points ago +2 / -0

Same here haven’t lost it yet. Though many much more exclusive neighborhoods around us are out of power. Not sure what the deal is.

4
FiresideRant 4 points ago +4 / -0

deliberate outages based on a threshold percentage of people in the area that voted for Trump maybe?

1
kfh14 1 point ago +1 / -0

Haha could be..! Although I live around almost all leftists...

10
runonce 10 points ago +11 / -1

....and natural gas spot prices wouldn't be through the roof if Biden hadn't cut the Keystone pipeline effectively instigating an energy scare ripe for speculators.

1
LoobintheToobin 1 point ago +2 / -1

I wonder how much silver and GME have to do with this as well. I know it’s primarily the pipeline. As if Buydem GME shorted The country’s energy... on purpose. Funny how one change can have a huge cascading effect. Such a finicky system... so quickly the cards fall

10
Tyscribz 10 points ago +10 / -0

There is only one provider of power and it has the backing of the state to control prices.

That is not capitalism, it is by definition communism

3
LoobintheToobin 3 points ago +3 / -0

^This^

8
Lepreco-Inc 8 points ago +8 / -0

Not capitalism, it’s a state run and backed monopoly.

8
MrVegan 8 points ago +8 / -0

Oh monopolies. You lose when we win and we win when you lose and when we lose we take your wins

7
Pederella 7 points ago +7 / -0

Serious fuckery going on behind the curtains. This is a man made disaster that is cascading. People freezing. Work/income lost. Food spoiled. Pipes bursting left and right.

5
RBFace 5 points ago +5 / -0

I love y'all for keeping me informed! I learn so much here on TheDonald.❤

5
gaijin_ronin 5 points ago +5 / -0

This will all be used to try to flip Texas blue.

5
probablyacoincidence 5 points ago +5 / -0

That's not capitalism that crony capitalism run amok with the full backing of political stooges

5
Sbsparky 5 points ago +5 / -0

Boggles my mind when idiots compare an industry choked by regulations to a free market, there is no comparison and it's not capitalism when the government dictates their every move Proves liberals know nothing about economics

4
ChickNorris 4 points ago +4 / -0

Doesn't everyone have a higher energy bill in the winter, especially during these deep freezes?

I don't have renewable energy or gas and my electric always goes up in the winter. I lived in a house with natural gas heat for years and it was still always more expensive in the winter.

They don't know this? Or are they just playing dumb?

1
Herefordamemesss 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s because you probably live somewhere it’s typically cold.

In the hotter states electricity consumption normally goes down in winter because the ac is off and it’s not cold enough most days to use a heater.

In fact, a couple power plants in Texas are down right now for maintenance because typically this is the best time to do it

1
ChickNorris 1 point ago +1 / -0

I live in a state that is known for experiencing all four seasons in a week tbh. We have distinct winter, spring, summer and fall. It does get cold here and we see snowfall at least once a year. But it's also hot as hell in the spring and summer and our winters are usually only bitter cold for a few weeks. The rest of the time it's chilly cold but not bundle up head to toe cold.

But you're correct, our electric bills do tend to go up in the winter. They also go sky high in the summer. We live for spring and fall when we have a few weeks of reprieve from high energy bills.

1
Eric-CIA-ramella 1 point ago +1 / -0

Still does not excuse ERCOT for intentionally ignoring storm warnings two days prior to the cold snap, they did this on purpose.

3
Eric-CIA-ramella 3 points ago +3 / -0

Despite all the suffering of innocent hard working Texans, just remember, that for every one, there is at least one California transplant freezing to death, reaping what they have sown.

3
Braineack 3 points ago +3 / -0

cronyism =/= capitalism

3
Fabius 3 points ago +3 / -0

TEXAS IS UNDER ATTACK

1
Americanapplepie [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I believe this as well.

3
ajmlecciones 3 points ago +3 / -0

Texas is being played. Texit have something to do with it?

3
QuietSpark 3 points ago +3 / -0

Crony capitalism is NOT free market capitalism.

3
GingerMan512 3 points ago +3 / -0

OMFG... That tweet is straight up Chinese propaganda!

2
LoobintheToobin 2 points ago +2 / -0

Why do I think WSB? Hmmmmm spot prices you say.

2
GodDamnedEngineer 2 points ago +2 / -0

TEXAS NEEDS TO DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND ASK THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR IT. THAT IS WHAT FLORIDA DOES EVERY YEAR WITH HURRICANES

1
undercoverincali 1 point ago +1 / -0

That ready happened days ago. Keep up.

2
PKShadilay 2 points ago +2 / -0

Only good news is that this s spoiling the covid ☠vaccine☠.

2
Eric-CIA-ramella 2 points ago +2 / -0

Capitalism

Wrong, it's communism per Biden at it's finest. Bow down to the green energy god and these are the consequences for cutting oil.

2
TGNX 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's corporatism, not capitalism. A fine point, but one that needs to be made.

2
masticator_nord 2 points ago +2 / -0

Isn't the power grid non-capitalist? Although I guess it's different in Texas. Do they have competing power companies there?

And the skyrocketing gas prices were due to hovernment intervention. Which is practically the opposite of capitalism.

Drill baby drill!!!! Fuck Xiden.

2
True-Grit 2 points ago +2 / -0

Capitalism like the Constitution was created for a moral and religious folk. Ergo the election fraud and price gouging shows that we gave a non moral and irreligious people in leadership roles.

2
throwaway777 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is just the inverse of GME.

2
Thefishermanguy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hey, im loving it in florida lol
