Doesn't everyone have a higher energy bill in the winter, especially during these deep freezes?
I don't have renewable energy or gas and my electric always goes up in the winter. I lived in a house with natural gas heat for years and it was still always more expensive in the winter.
They don't know this? Or are they just playing dumb?

That’s because you probably live somewhere it’s typically cold.
In the hotter states electricity consumption normally goes down in winter because the ac is off and it’s not cold enough most days to use a heater.
In fact, a couple power plants in Texas are down right now for maintenance because typically this is the best time to do it
Still does not excuse ERCOT for intentionally ignoring storm warnings two days prior to the cold snap, they did this on purpose.
