please forgive my ignorance but how is this much different than what's already in place, except the pay for training and insurance part? For instance I want to buy my first handgun and just to do that I have to obtain a gun permit from my local Sheriffs office and they do all the checks that are already listed in this post just for me to buy my first gun, and if I want another gun I have to do this process all over again also. (at least that's what I was told but people do give out misinformation so take that with a grain of salt that not everyone is a know it all and correct all the time) I live in NC Wayne county so it might just be my state that has this in place. I still have 2 more weeks before I'll even know if my permit is approved and my local sheriff is flooded with gun permits at the moment. You have to have this in order purchase any firearm in my area. Just because you list where your gun will be doesn't mean it's going to be in that place all the time so that's not a issue for me. For example if I say it's in my home I'm not telling you the exact location of where to find it in my home so no biggie for me at least. Paying for 24 hours of training is probably a good thing in my opinion, For my sons 16th birthday last month I paid to have a private gun lesson at a local shooting range and I even learned so much about guns that I wouldn't have ever thought about being a first time shooter, like your stance making a impact, finger positions, and what not to do if you have a misfire. (that's all common sense but honestly never even thought about it, remember first time shooter and gun purchaser here, not a pro or regular shooter) You gotta have training to get a drivers license and vehicles can kill you so I don't see the training being a negative depending on the cost
