The reason for those masks was because of the smell of dead bodies back in the middle ages. There were so many that they put stuff that would overwhelm their smell into the front of that mask so they wouldn't pass out.

Wear a black hoodie, a black bandana, and sunglasses, and say that's a more socially acceptable look than showing your bare face.

Ebay has them a lot of them, Etsy too. And Amazon has some if you are not averse to using them. They are called "plague masks".
