Was the soviet union collapse a good thing though? East German communists take over Germany push Communist ideals to the EU. Makes Americans lazy, lets our guard down, we elect Clinton who brings in China, now we're attacked internally from foreign invaders (including those made citizens by Reagan). Russia gets gang raped and strip mined by cronies and billionaires.
Tell me how that was a good thing, and for who exactly?
Better to have an enemy you know, rather than 7 billion enemies you don't. The problem is that sometimes the thing you think you want isn't the thing you really need.
How much of Reagan's failures were actually Reagan and not say Bush running shit in the background while senile Reagan put on a smile for the cameras.
I remember when being a conservative meant secretly agreeing with Democrats on just about everything but you can't act on it because there's too much in the pockets of Wall Street
We're not talking theoretical utopian timeline, we're talking about how things work in reality. Thinking that the wall is going to come down and everyone's going to jerk each other off and dance naked in the streets, was naive and silly.
One side stopped fighting a war, and the other side didn't, while we welcomed the enemy with open arms as they plotted against us. And appear to be winning.
That's based on the idea that for some reason the leftists wouldn't have prospered in the West with the USSR present. They already controlled academia before the USSR collapsed, and that's how they started controlling/perverting our elites.
China is a communist country. They use a state capitalism model inside communism within a capitals multi-national framework. Their state capitalism is a farce, and is temporary until they leverage enough power to demand other countries do things their way. Which is happening every day.
A strong United State, which it would have been with another 4 years of Trump or at least headed in that direction would defeat China handily. However, not when the people who are now running the country are selling us out to China to skim a few dollars off the top.
Germany had a problem starting after 1982. When the FdP( close to libertarians) and the CDU/ CSU ( Conservatives) were coming to power, they promised a spiritual and moral turn (geistig moralische Wende). This turn never came. Similar to Reagans policies.
This was biting us hard when the wall came down. Promises of "blooming landscapes" were not delivered aside from "large blooming rapeseed fields". The government mismanagement of the former west how to integrate and build up an economy again is haunting the German pension funds and politics up to today.
How chancellor Kohl could allow Merkel to gain power so fast, is completely unexplainable.
She should have never been allowed into the cabinet to start with. Not with that past she had.
Since her rule started, Germany is in free fall economically, defensively and socially.
The real republicans are now in the younger generation of the former east, while the west is completely corrupted.
Yeah well, gerMoney is still too strong in spite ofbaoo that. Nobody is looking at a german societal collapse, which is why it will be sudden and swift.
well, I'm sure the Russians (and the Eastern Bloc) are happy not to be living in a communist country anymore. Having Putin as a czar must be better than living in the USSR.
Other than that, a net loss since people thought the war against communism was over after the Soviet Union fell. The war continues today.
Reagan brought the USSR to their economic knees. The lefties, after it collapsed, went all out to ensure that "Reagan had nothing to do with it.".
That was total bullshit. Reagan had everything to do with it.
Yes, eventually the USSR was doomed due to communism, but with Reagan at the helm it collapsed quickly and not over many many decades. They would've expanded and [fiscally] raped their way to maintain power.
Reagan boxed them in and forced their end.
As for Best President Ever, Trump wins, but Reagan is a close second. It was different times with a different environment and Reagan was essentially the Trump of the day. Trump has had way more social battles and way more opposition and still won bigly so Trump gets the win... with only four years to do it.
Well, now you are on the right track. Since school, you now have something they didn't teach you: the ability to do your own research and validate what is a lie and what isn't.
Being on Patriots.win is a huuge step toward seeing truth. Trump himself red-pilled enough people to start down that path of discovery. (I had always been red-pilled).
Back before the intestines, it was difficult to find the truth, but I learned how the left lies and that helped greatly.
Remember, if a reporter interviews somebody but then leaves out of the article some rather obvious questions they would've asked, then you know they have an agenda. There are many such clues.
I completely understand that. And I agree. The issue Trump had/has is that he was fighting the deep-state and a completely uniform MSM in opposition. I remember Reagan fighting against the MSM, but now they are so far radicalized. Reagan did not have a weaponized government and weaponized MSM against him so besides being one of the greatest president ever, Trump had/has more difficulty dealing with it.
I've hated the MSM longer than most people here. It was bad then, but now it's fucking commie propaganda levels.
I watched on live TV the moon landing (I'm old) and had been a conservative ALL my life.
I won't win an argument with you as you'd likely wine over. To me, it's hard to say Trump is #2 as I have always said (prior to Trump at least) that Reagan was #1.
My son has asked me this question many times: Reagan or Trump?
You have reminded me of many of the great Reagan's feats, so, on this forum, I will leave it there.
I am sure Reagan would be proud of Trump, and I'm sure Trump knew how great Reagan was.
To be fair to Reagan, the soviet union collapsed, in part, because RR accelerated an arms race that he both knew the USSR could not win and would bankrupt them by trying.
RR was a very good republican president. Donald Trump is not a Republican president. He is a republican revolution.
The poll is essentially “do you like Reagan over the first shot at Lexington and Concord”
I feel like Trump was a modern James K Polk. His first campaign was focused on a few key issues and his presidency was mainly focused on those issues. The difference being Trump had more opposition with McCain and Dems so health care and infrastructure didn’t get solved but he chipped away with drug pricing right to try etc.
His second campaign was much worse in this regard IMO. There was no memeified policy ideas like 2016. I think everyone in America could tell you Trumps 2016 platform and probably only a handful of ppl could tell you Hillary’s.
Ray-gun loved illegal aliens, created al Qaeda, and helped the Chicoms become a juggernaut by giving them our nukes, ICBMs, and space tech. He also gave WMDs to both Iran and Iraq and money to Hezbollah in exchange for hostage releases. He literally negotiated with terrorists. He raised taxes moreso than cut them like his BS SS/Medicare tax increase.
He even shut down the State Hospital system in California when he was governor in the 60s and brought that program nationally when he became president, so we can thank Reagan for our massive homeless issues across this country.
Yeah, totally Reagan's fault - not at all the fault of the ACLU which fought relentlessly to stop the forced institutionalization of the criminally insane so that they were legally entitled to roam the streets free as birds. Read up on some history, you are horribly uninformed / misinformed.
I actually am very informed on the history of it. You must not remember Gov. Reagan signing Lanterman-Petris-Short Act in 1967 when four of California's 10+ state institutions shut down immediately with several more closing in the coming decades. He also killed off state institutions when he became president through the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, where Reagan gutted the funding that President Carter committed to state institutions. Im sure ACLU and patients' rights activist played a role, but there's a lot more political reasons for it.
The genesis of the homelessness problem is that the state's authority to forcibly confine people against their will absent a criminal conviction ended as a result of ACLU lawsuits. The changes began with Kennedy who signed the Community Mental Health Centers Construction Act in 1963, LBJ followed that in 1965 by signing legislation that moved federal funding from states such that state run institutions were forced to close for financial reasons, 1962 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' was published, so the California legislation you cite was not the cause of anything, it was a result of the feds under democrat regimes cutting off funding to the states, which in turn was a result of public outrage at the practice of lifetime institutionalization. Reagan responded to changes in the law, federal policies and public sentiment, he did not cause those things.
Bullshit. Want a hot take? How about this - for all you claim Reagan gave our enemies, Trump gave our enemies control over the house, senate, and executive branch and oversaw the death of our republic without exercising any of the myriad powers inherent in the executive. Still 2d best POTUS this century. No one got locked up though, and none of the 25 million illegals were sent back. No voter id, no cleaning out the rot in the alphabet agencies. Wasted opportunities, and all he did will be undone in Biden's first 2 months.
The Republican Party has a tendency to work as follows: follow the constitution and the agenda left behind by the most popular member from the past who got shit done.
Reagan’s agenda ended with Bush with the Warhawks subverting out party. Whoever was the next Republican President would likely set the new agenda and way forward for the party. Besides that we keep following the constitution.
He also gave amnesty and green cards to around 8 million illegals. His "guest farm workers green cards/visas" plan was a disaster. About 3.5M of the 8M amnestied illegals snuck in through the fraudulent "guest farm workers" plan. He also signed the EMTALA Act which gave all illegals FREE SHIT healthcare in all ERs in America.
Reagan was a product of his time, Trump a product of his. Not really a fair comparison between the two. We were a far more unified nation back then, maybe the last time we were, at least for any length of time.
The 1980s were probably the peak of American cultural dominance. Reagan was part of that, but he didn't create it.
How was he focused on neoliberal economics? He was a big supporter of Barry Goldwater (right-libertarian) and Calvin Coolidge . He was forced to compromise but his goal was not neoliberal economics.
None of the above. The problem with Republicans in general is that they're just last decade's Democrats. It's been that way for a while. Even Regan acknowledged that notion when he gave his famous speech in the 60s saying that he didn't leave the Democrat Party but that it left him. It was worth supporting Trump but he still didn't make a dent in the Deep State and there was not so much as a stirring straw used to drain the swamp.
For me I would have to say Washington then Trump. Washington could have been king, but instead he set the standard for two terms. Dude guided a fledgling nation. He also warned us about political parties on his exit from office.
I'm not downplaying anything Trump did, I think he's the second best (and my favorite). Its just even with the fuckery from within our country that he had to deal with, I think that was easier than being the potus of our nation in its early formation.
Reagan didn't sit idly by while his 49 state landslide re election win was brazenly stolen and watch as our republic died a whimpering death. So he's got that going for him.
Fuck Reagan. He sold our country to third world immigrants and mandated vaccination, irreparably changing our country and is one of big reasons we are in this mess now.
Imagine actually asking retards who the best president is. It might not even be trump in terms of hype as many republicans especially old ones are based as fuck. Anyway it's not fucking obama. He's like maybe 12th from the bottom at best.
Yeah...I wasn't thinking about that. But in actuality, the MI complex already existed after two world wars and Korea. He definitely did his part to facilitate it though.
It was when he was still general from the war when her convinced Truman to install it even though Truman didn't want to. Not that Truman was innocent. Just that one of "our guys" was the originator of the plan to steal Nazi ideas and institute them as a part of a greater operation.
Reagan is the reason California went blue, after he gave millions of illegals citizenship on the promise by the Democrats that they would secure the border.
Unfortunately, I feel had Trump gained a second term, he would have done something similar.
Also, no fault divorce came about during Reagan's tenure and was the death knell for marriage in the US.
Regan launched NAFTA with Bush Sr... Clinton's merely finished it. Trump undid that waste of paper legislation and made the outcome more profitable for Americans.
Not in 80’s. Trump doesn’t win a single primary against Reagan. Reagan won 49 states in his day. You need to remember Pat Buchanan and Huckabee ran as populist in elections prior to Trump and got single digit support. Timing is everything - Trump knew that. He was talking MAGA smack for decades before he ran.
Reagan is wildly overrated. Under his governorship, California was the first state of the union to allow no fault divorce. Not to mention his ban on assault weapons, laughable war on drugs, and allowing other countries to steal our manufacturing.
It is hard to compare the two. Reagan was the first president I voted for. It was a different time and what he did for the country was miraculous. The direction we were going under Carter was horrible and Reagan turned it around over night. The problems we faced in 2016 were different and called for a different kind of leader. Trump was the only person who could have turned things back in the right direction then. I think they both were perfect for their time and neither would have been as successful in the other persons time. I just feel lucky to have been around for both and will always wonder what would have happened in the next four years if the election wasn't stolen from Trump.
Thinking about how Reagan was fiercely popular and missed by Republicans after Clinton's terms ended, it led to Bush running on some Reagan nostalgia. Pretending to adhere to his thinking, like all the other RINOs. If they have their way in 2-3 elections from now they'll trot out some fake ass RINO/Bush family member who tries to wink at the Trump base in the same way.
Remember, he motivated nearly 17 million+ more people to vote for him the second time around... with 94%+ negative media coverage constantly... Absolutley Stunning Feat Of Strength.
He also got a good percentage of normies to not even consider the two fake impeachments as anything except partisan garbage. It's amazing how few normies I hear ever even mention them. Then when they do, they're acknowledging that they were complete shams. The Left will lie in their propaganda filled history books but they're never going to make either one stick.
People see Reagan through rose colored glasses. Without him being duped by Teddy the Commie Kennedy into giving amnesty to illegals, California and other blue states would still be red.
He also shut down the asylum system because he was a bleeding heart that bought Geraldo's bullshit.
Reagan was the Trump of my generation. He took down the USSR via Poland & Pope. His economic programs created 2.5 decades of US prosperity. Trump accomplished more for certain but Trump also stands more now because the contrast of right vs left (radial left nowadays) was so stark in 2016/2020 vs early 80’s. DIMS while crazy even then still had General Allegiance to the USA.
True. Trump just one-upped him. You have to remember though, Reagan was a politician for years before becoming president. Trump is the complete opposite of a politician.
FYI Reagan haters..... TRUMP would have gotten less than 2% of the vote in the 80’s. Reagan was elected because of the contrast he presented vs Carter. Trump was elected because of the contrast of MAGA vs Crazy, Corrupt, Clinton and and liberal left.
In short, Reagan would have beat Trump in his day and Trump would’ve taken down Reagan in his.
They are #3 and #5 and I’m proud to say I voted for both.
Honestly I was like 5 years old when Reagan took office, so I really don't remember much of anything about him; I was too young to follow politics. I really only know what I read about him now. But, I was raised in a (legal) immigrant household who voted (working class) democrat for as long as I could remember, and my elders couldn't stand Reagan, so I'm chalking that up to - he couldn't have been that bad.
Yeah, I dunno. Hard to say that the last conservative US president was the best when he didn't do what was needed at the most critical point in the nation's history.
President Trump destroyed the theater of politics forever. Nobody watches the moron media anymore and their ratings have been destroyed because there's nothing worth watching. The morons who think they're celebrities have had a two ton anvil of reality dropped on their heads: That reality being that nobody likes them, they have no personality, nobody wants their opinion and they're boring as hell.
Regan got a free win when the Soviet union collapsed. Trump got every win by sheer force of will
Was the soviet union collapse a good thing though? East German communists take over Germany push Communist ideals to the EU. Makes Americans lazy, lets our guard down, we elect Clinton who brings in China, now we're attacked internally from foreign invaders (including those made citizens by Reagan). Russia gets gang raped and strip mined by cronies and billionaires.
Tell me how that was a good thing, and for who exactly?
It's always nice to see an evil empire fall. It was just a failure of the world that allowed the new fresh hell of the present to replace it
Better to have an enemy you know, rather than 7 billion enemies you don't. The problem is that sometimes the thing you think you want isn't the thing you really need.
How much of Reagan's failures were actually Reagan and not say Bush running shit in the background while senile Reagan put on a smile for the cameras.
CCP does what the soviet union did, which was infiltrate enemy governments and rot them from the inside out.
Reagan was the greatest President of the 20th century. Trump is the greatest President since Lincoln.
Biden and friends count as an evil empire?
I don't know what this Cult of trump is about. Why are people so cultish around trump?
moST RePubLiCAns doNt LiKE TRUmp
We need to go back to REAL conservatives like romneyy
trump is not a conservative. We Need to go back to REAL conservative principles
like cutting taxess for the rich and tax increases for the poor
And lying about weapons of mass destruction to start an endless war that killed millions and millions of people
And pretending to support small government but then turning around and trying to legislate what people can do in their own bedroom..
And busing the power of your office to spy on your political opponents
And creating Obamacare [but calling it Romney care
And supporting things like the EPA
And secretly supporting the idea of universal health Care but the only reason you don't pass it is because you were paid not to by lobbyists
I remember when being a conservative meant secretly agreeing with Democrats on just about everything but you can't act on it because there's too much in the pockets of Wall Street
(Do i really need an /s??)
In 2021's Clown World? Sadly, yes. I wish we had a counter for how many pointers hovered over but did not click [deport]. Good stuff. :)
yes you do but my god I love your trolling
Lots of politicians need to die in Minecraft
Yes.
You can argue about how the followup was handled, but the world is a better place for having lost the Soviet Union.
That doesn't mean the world would be a better place if the Soviet Union had survived.
It doesn't. It's merely a question, because everyone always assumes the answer.
That's based on the idea that for some reason the leftists wouldn't have prospered in the West with the USSR present. They already controlled academia before the USSR collapsed, and that's how they started controlling/perverting our elites.
I was referring to communists, not Russians.
it'd be worse if the commies still had a giant superpower state to back them
well they have china but I'm not sure about their long term viability and either way it'd be worse if the soviet union was still around
China is a communist country. They use a state capitalism model inside communism within a capitals multi-national framework. Their state capitalism is a farce, and is temporary until they leverage enough power to demand other countries do things their way. Which is happening every day.

No. Cold War era war movies > Dumbfuckistan war movies.

AGREE 100%. LOOKING FORWARD TO HIS SECOND TERM.
Better than Reagan, oh yea. Better than Washington, no way no how.
I've long felt James Polk was a seriously underrated president
I feel like Trump was a modern James K Polk. His first campaign was focused on a few key issues and his presidency was mainly focused on those issues. Coolidge too.
I tell people that the order is:
Every time.
Great list, but Teddy R?
Trust me he’s #6
Agree. Trump is right there below the founding fathers.
I totally agree. Reagan was a Neocon with a lot of his policies. Trump did way more in half the time and kept endless promises.
Reagan was the granddaddy of neocons and neolibs.
He even shut down the State Hospital system in California when he was governor in the 60s and brought that program nationally when he became president, so we can thank Reagan for our massive homeless issues across this country.
Berkeley was called the "open ward" when the local hospital was shut down. Those people never left the city either if anyone has been downtown.
Yeah, totally Reagan's fault - not at all the fault of the ACLU which fought relentlessly to stop the forced institutionalization of the criminally insane so that they were legally entitled to roam the streets free as birds. Read up on some history, you are horribly uninformed / misinformed.

Negotiating with Hezbollah is the opposite of what a Neocon would do.
And gave immunity to vaccine companies
Amnesty and immunity to vaccine makers. Hm. I wonder how we got to where we are today.
If he didn't they wouldn't make them.
Do you mean the taliban?
Bullshit. Want a hot take? Wow I had no idea.
Now add up their children and other relatives and you've got a voting bloc that can swing elections...for dems
Yeah, Reagan was a neocon. He did a lot of real good stuff though in regards to deregulating the economy and the end of the Soviet Union.
Dominion must have co ducted the American citizen portion of the poll!
All great presidents, D or R, had assassination attempts on them.
Trump, Reagan, JFK, Andrew Jackson, Lincoln etc.
This is the only litmus test you need to assess any US president. Whether he works for the people or he's just a puppet.
What do you have against Garfield and McKinley? Jk
Reagan was a product of his time, Trump a product of his. Not really a fair comparison between the two. We were a far more unified nation back then, maybe the last time we were, at least for any length of time.
The 1980s were probably the peak of American cultural dominance. Reagan was part of that, but he didn't create it.
Great analysis.
Reagan destroyed his home state of California with amnesty. He did a lot of good things too, but he was way too focused on neoliberal economics.
He wasn't even from here. Came here for Hollywood.
How was he focused on neoliberal economics? He was a big supporter of Barry Goldwater (right-libertarian) and Calvin Coolidge . He was forced to compromise but his goal was not neoliberal economics.

Yep. Kennedy would be to the right of a lot of present day Republicans.
Unfortunately I agree. Not one arrest.

Washington Jefferson/Adams Lincoln Trump Reagan
My head agrees, but my heart still says TRUMP #1 FOREVER.
Regan did amnesty, nuff said.
Reagan didn't sit idly by while his 49 state landslide re election win was brazenly stolen and watch as our republic died a whimpering death. So he's got that going for him.
Nice hypothetical, too bad you'll never know.
Regan gave amnesty to millions of illegals. That's a black mark on his record. Trump was actively protecting us from massive illegal immigration.
Reagan, like Trump, trusted people to keep their word. IMO Trump is actually worse than Reagan in that regard.
Trump trusted Kushner far too much and let him pick too many apointees.
Reagan nearly died in an assassination attempt 70 days into his 1st term.
Afterwards, he never was the same and failed to do most of what he
promised (getting rid of the "Departments", for example), which is the main
reason DJT stands out. To quote the POTUS Trump: "I did MORE than I promised".
Indeed you did, Mr. President... indeed yo did.
I agree. Trump > Reagan.
Agreed but Washington > Trump so is Trump bad? We’re arguing over hall of fame presidents and Trump being in top 3 doesn’t make Reagan bad at #5.
this has got to terrify the Demorats
Greatest in my lifetime and I remember Truman :)
Wow. I'm a little young for Truman but I voted for Reagan twice. Personally, I thought Eisenhower was a big improvement over Truman.
Except Eisenhower installed the very military industrial complex which he then went on to "warn" us about.
Oh damn, I got them backwards, excuse my error. Yes it is Eisenhower I remember, Truman I remember reading about and seeing in film. Cheers!
Duh. Americans like presidents who don't give amnesty.
Trump is STILL the best president.
It's a no brainer!! Trump beats Reagan BIGLY!!
Reagan would be seen as a success if his amnesty led to mexicans and other south americans voting Conservative
Well....that's a no-brainer.
Agree, we need to be careful about viewing people in the times they lived.. Otherwise, why not criticize the founding fathers more for owning slaves?
Except the late eighties wasn't THAT long ago, and ultimately seeded the issues we are left facing at this time.
35 years is a long time and Reagan was more early mid 80’s.
Regan had much of the Media......Trump had NONE. GEOTUS NO 1
Trump is pretty much the best president after the founding fathers.
If you make yourself more then just a man. If you devote yourself to an ideal.
And if they can't stop you then you become something else intirely
Which is? A legend
But but but Trump lost Biden gots the most votes in all of space and time.
Who the fuck is a republican? I'm a Trumplican.
Wow! The Reagan hate on here is wild. Chill out guys, he wasnt MAGA per se, but i think he still did some great things for the country
True. Trump just one-upped him. You have to remember though, Reagan was a politician for years before becoming president. Trump is the complete opposite of a politician.
No not really, Trump was a DC outsider. He was more of a Rush type personality before jumping into CA politics
Reagan gave amnesty to the illegals (mostly Mexicans). I think he was the last republican presidential candidate to win California because of that.
H.W. won California in 1988, so close enough
I stand corrected.
President Trump is clearly the best president in a generation, or at least the past 40 years.
Good. St. Reagan was an anti-2A faggot.
That list is stupid because they put Obama as number 1. He is the worst president we have ever had by far.
In no particular order: Jackson, Trump, Coolidge, Washington, Teddy Roosevelt for top five.
Yes.
Yeah, I dunno. Hard to say that the last conservative US president was the best when he didn't do what was needed at the most critical point in the nation's history.
Akswhually, it was 2.012 to 1, so this is fake news.
We rate this as Mostly false
That's a feat. Congratulations!
BIG DICK ENERGY!
2016 campaign Trump was the most based politician ever. He went places no one not even Reagan would go and even more entertaining.
