You can also thank him for Levin, Hannity, Coulter, and a host of careers in his wake. Granted, a lot of them turned on him, or went in the wrong direction, but he started the whole rise of conservative talk. He was a radio phenomenon. He revived a whole industry with one show.

I wasn't a big fan of him (not for his ideas, just not my thing), but I completely respect what he did. You have to. Well, unless you're liberal, seeing the hate filled gnashing of liberal teeth in social media right now.

Back in high school I remember either reading on a forum (most likely as most people were apolitical in HS) or hearing it somewhere how fucking bad rush was and how he's lying all the time. There was some event that I can't remember but I thought to myself, "I need to check out just how much hatred this guy has" and started to listen to him on AM radio whenever I drove. I had a few jobs where I had to drive around about 1/2 the time and I ended up agreeing with him on a lot of the issues and haven't looked back since.

The same thing happened to me. My super liberal English teacher went on a rant about how racist Rush was because he wanted Obama to fail. Everyone at my school was fawning over Obama so I was curious to see why someone would want him to fail. I decided to listen one day and it slowly redpilled me. I

Rush Limbaugh was a legend. He was the original shitlord. He was challenging the insanity of the left and cultural Marxism back when nobody else was paying attention. We owe him a debt of gratitude. We should have listened. With his passing, how long will it be before the left takes over radio and has complete hegemony over all forms of media? With Fox News taking the turn they have, the left now dominates television and social media with virtually no opposition.

Rush was and will always be the greatest talk radio personality. He was everywhere in the early 1990s, even on TV. He was a huge part of the national zeitgeist in the late 1980s and all throughout the 1990s. He deserved every penny he ever earned.

86
1st_Covfefe 86 points ago +86 / -0

mmurray 53 points ago +53 / -0

This. I’m 52 now. He’s been a daily part of my life since I was 19 years old. He saved me from falling to the university system liberal indoctrination, which was well underway when I found him. Godspeed, Rush! Life on earth won’t be the same without you.

44
KlunniClowns 44 points ago +44 / -0

Yes I can say the same! Been listening since I was in grade school, I was blessed to be educated by him. He finished the race.

24
TangerineShine 24 points ago +24 / -0

Same. My dad ALWAYS had him on the radio when I was a child. My dad was a filthy commie attending a university when he discovered Rush. He said he always wanted to call in and set him straight.

After listening to him for a while, my dad started to realize the media would misrepresent Rush’s words constantly. After encountering that numerous times my dad started to realize everything he believed in was a lie.

Rush, I would have been raised a damn commie if it weren’t for you. Thank you, we love you and we’ll catch you on the flip side. GOD BLESS RUSH LIMBAUGH, HIS FAMILY AND GOD BLESS AMERICA.

DontArkancideMeBro 13 points ago +13 / -0

He was the original redpill. The man most responsible for the survival of the conservative movement from the 80's until today. In the good times and the rough times there was always Rush. It is indeed a dark winter. As conservatives and pro-American patriots we always need to remember Rush's example and keep fighting the good fight, stick to our principles and be optimistic because America's best days are still ahead.

FireannDireach 4 points ago +10 / -6

No, we don't have the tech to eradicate cancer. I took care of my mom when she died from it, and did a lot of reading and talking to her oncologists and radiologists. We're really good at slowing it down and removing some kinds of it, but we'll never 'eradicate" it, as there are so many things that can cause one cell to go rogue in a bad way - including the sun, or the radon coming out of the ground.

The best we can hope for are new techniques to remove it once it forms, especially replacing chemo, which does more harm than the cancer in some cases.

Big Pharma does profit horrifically from cancer, this is true, but they're not disallowing anything. If they had a literal cure for cancer, they'd be profiting off that even more than they are from current treatments. Cancer will always be a risk to humans, and they'd be able to sell billions of "cures", if they had them.

But going on your Tesla comment, you're working on hokum and urban legend, not actual science.

My mom got cancer. She had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. All it did was spread the cancer. The doctors sent her home to die. A friend gave her a herbal preparation and within 3 weeks, the cancer was gone. She is still alive 35 years on from that ordeal. She turns 90 in 2 days time. My father got cancer and died. I have spent 35 years researching cancer. There are so many variables within variables (physical, mental and spiritual) not understood by the medical profession, that determine whether a patient dies or survives.

8
JuicyfearsMAGA 8 points ago +9 / -1

Let that fine whisky and smoke heat you up in his honor, sir

4
HuggableBear 4 points ago +9 / -5

The odds that cigars actually caused his cancer are pretty low.

What the doctors don't ever tell you is that the words "risk factor" don't mean what you think they mean.

There are more people with lung cancer that have never smoked a day in their lives than there are people who smoked a ton.

But among smokers, there is a slightly higher incidence of lung cancer than in the general populace.

So yeah, it's a "risk factor", but there are still far more people with lung cancer that never touched the stuff. Cancer is almost entirely just a random thing that happens. There are very few risk factors that mean much of anything.

3
Kolob 3 points ago +3 / -0

True that, with smoking incidence down most people who get lung cancer now never smoked, but it carries a stigma due to the perception that it is the victim's fault. Everyone I have known who has lung cancer in the last 30 years never smoked. My next door neighbor was lucky her daughter was persistent because they were not going to look for it because she had never smoked.

2
JuicyfearsMAGA 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree with this completely, and as always a big fuck you to cancer

1
TheWiseBuffalo 1 point ago +2 / -1

There’s a study in 2016 that showed a couple cigars a week does jack. It’s cigarettes that’s the issue and cigars shouldn’t be categorized as the same.

Note that’s if they’re smoked as intended and not inhaled into the lungs.

1
THE_MAGAL0RIAN 1 point ago +5 / -4

There are more people with lung cancer that have never smoked a day in their lives than there are people who smoked a ton.

This is patently untrue. Per the 2014 study below, more than 90% of lung cancers have been shown to be attributable to smoking.

Siemiatycki J, Karp I, Sylvestre MP, Pintos J. Estimating the proportion of cases of lung cancer legally attributable to smoking: a novel approach for class actions against the tobacco industry. Am J Public Health. 2014;104(8):e60–6.

2
HuggableBear 2 points ago +2 / -0

You should actually read things before you post them. "Legally attributable" is not even remotely close to "caused by"

That study is so ridiculously flawed it's laughable

2
Barbs 2 points ago +3 / -1

Now think back to grade school where they tried to discourage you from smoking by showing that it has all the same chemicals as car exhaust. Now think about that statement for a moment, and then ask why are smokers getting the blame when everybody owns a car.

They put out the same chemicals, but smoking is obviously the problem (on a massively lower scale). Even second-hand. But don’t you dare blame that car in your driveway.

Devastating

Knew it was coming soon, but still can't believe it. My dad texted me about 10 minutes ago to tell me, and was surprised at how little info there was to be found anywhere online.

RIP Rush. You were a trailblazer, and an icon that will never die. May we continue his fight for generations to come

I wouldn't be surprised if no one knew until Katherine announced it on his show.

They wanted us to know first

I_Used_to_be_me 18 points ago +18 / -0

Yeah that's what my dad thinks/was just telling me. He thinks Rush wrote the monologue for her (I didn't hear it so I won't speculate)

14
Vox_Dobad 14 points ago +14 / -0

Quite possibly. He definitely set up this "greatest hits" show.

He was always most gracious to his listeners. Always humble and thoughtful, regardless of what the leftists claimed.

Damn, I'm gonna miss him

They don't want people to look in to Rush and accidentally stumble upon view points that contradict the main stream narrative on anything political, which is everything now.

A great loss for America. So very sad to lose such a great mind.

I am glad that his suffering has ended. God Bless you Rush.

America has lost a good one.

killerbeblue 43 points ago +43 / -0

Not many celebrity deaths bother me, but this is such a massive fucking loss. The idea that I’ll never hear new words uttered from Rush’s mouth is not an easy reality to accept. What a legend.

RedPilledRaven 38 points ago +38 / -0

RIP to a true American Hero. I don’t get sad over celebrity deaths but this one hurts. He was so much more than just a talking head.

Mega dittos, El Rushbo. You shaped a generation of patriots, you will be missed.

Thanks for keeping me company and sane Rush!

He was with us from all the way back in our reddit days. After Drudge sold out, we were one of his main sources for news.

ChickNorris 11 points ago +11 / -0

I listened to Rush back in the 90s on the radio before internet was a household thing. I remember listening to him when my 28 year old daughter was a toddler.

1
Oculument 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes but Rush was on The Donald since reddit.

1
ChickNorris 1 point ago +1 / -0

lol. that's longer than I was on it then.

Rest in peace.

Is there an archive of his show? I might need to listen some of the best parts.

12
NvCrone 12 points ago +12 / -0

They are playing some now. Parts of old shows. It's his goodbye..

Series3Gleaner 4 points ago +4 / -0

Of course during our rotating blackout crap with the radio station down...

NvCrone 2 points ago +2 / -0

There's a woman who posts his show on youtube everyday at about 6pm. Sorry, don't have a link for you. But it won't be lost.
