For me it’s like losing a family member. My dad passed a few years ago and he listened almost daily. I first heard rush in my dad’s truck in the late 80’s and Rush validated the things my dad was trying to teach me. With humor and style. His presence on the radio every day was like a living connection to my dad and his wisdom. This one’s gonna be hard on me...

Same here, every word of it. Rush spoke the truth and walked the walk.

13
AmericanJawa 13 points ago +13 / -0

He never told people what to think, he merely spoke on behalf of millions who shared his views but didn't have the proper means to express them.

14
VinceFoster101 14 points ago +14 / -0

I listened to him since his Sacramento days. I remember thinking "you can't say that on the radio... they'll crucify him" and of course "he is saying exactly what I've been saying"

I was listening when the 1st "ditto" was uttered. I was listening when Dan's Bakesale exploded. I've read all his books. I've listened to him every day possible since the beginning. Etc. Etc.

It is a gut-punch knowing he is not going to be on air. Yet, he will always be with us.

He was on loan to us.

Same here. We Love You Rush!

For me it’s like losing a family member.

Certainly is, Hang in there friends, until we met, Rush Limbaugh’s legacy will live on forever. I guess for me I’m listening to My City Was Gone by The Pretenders and then finding a way to start somewhere circa 1984 and go from there, that should get me by for a few decades.

My mom just called me crying. I grew up listening to Rush because my mom would have him on the radio taking me to school. Very sad day.

2

My son just called me to tell me he was sorry to hear about Rush and of course, as soon as I heard my son's voice I started crying. Again.

What a sad day.

Any truth there may be to the ideas of praying to Saints (which really means asking them to pray on our behalf) and fellowship of the Saints has no less validity with Rush in his element; dispensing redpills. He has a clearer perspective where he is now ...

Patron Saint of the redpill, Rush Limbaugh the beloved

Spez: Melania's heavenly smile has never been more radiant. Not that I didn't notice live, but I was more focused on Rush and the perfection of the whole thing.

Melania's love for this Country has never gotten enough attention. She was so evidently honored to bestow that specific honor. I'm hard pressed to think of anything any other first lady ever did that was so significant.

He invented talk radio, in the political sphere

12
dsred259 12 points ago +12 / -0

Going to miss him a lot. When I listened to him while growing up in the 90s, I didn't know anything about politics and at that point I didn't care too much. However, I think he really influenced me to think critically about things, especially things reported in the media and things politicians say. In that sense, I really believe Rush helped prevent me from becoming another braindead NPC. Thank you Rush and RIP.

Rush's show often felt like he was a professor running a classroom. He would ask callers questions and I often felt like he was a professor getting the best out of his students. I learned so much from Rush. He will be greatly missed.

I can remember decades ago Rush saying he would remain on the radio until he died, and he damn well fulfilled that prediction.

Rush is literally the guy who taught me that you had to love your job. Nothing else mattered by comparison when choosing a career. If you had the passion, success would follow. I chose to follow that advice at a time when I was making poverty level income in my 20s, and now I make 6 figures from my home on the coast doing something I love, and I have always given a great deal of credit to Rush as silly as that sounds to some people. He was right. I dove into something I loved, and success actually came rather quickly. It was just that easy.

He also helped teach me personal responsibility. Life is a LOT less miserable when you choose to accept responsibility for your own plight in life and quit blaming "society" for anything and everything. I can remember one of his exact quotes, "Society is merely the sum of its parts". I still steal that from him all the time.

I hope Rush knew that he legitimately changed people's lives.

CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

God knows. God sees. The God who sees, Jehovah Roi, may you grant Rush a glorious entrance into your everlasting kingdom ...

Rush is the MAIN reason I am MAGA. I started watching Rush when I was 16 on old school giant satellite TV. My grandfather whom I had just moved in with watched him. I moved from Los Angeles to rural Mississippi. Rush was a great American and a true patriot.

3
CuomoisaMassMurderer 3 points ago +3 / -0

That must have been quite the culture shock! I bet Rush helped you make sense of things and keep your sanity ...

1
TownHallBall 1 point ago +2 / -1

It was pretty wild. I made a lot of lifelong friends in Mississippi though. I did move to Baton Rouge and went to LSU when I graduated bc it was the nearest metropolitan area. I am still in contact with a lot of people from Mississippi 25 years later. There are a lot of good folks in Mississippi. A lot of Patriots.

Every musician in heaven is already way better than they ever were in this life. Not only is Rush's hearing better and he's without the distractions we suffer from here, his understanding and appreciation is better, too. Just a little tidbit from a lifelong musician, and Christian for many decades; something God has revealed to me. Take it as you will, but it's specific to your comment, Fren.

Never before have I had occasion to share that

7
AmericanJawa 7 points ago +7 / -0

Even when you know it's coming eventually, you still hope it comes later rather than sooner, and nothing really prepares you for when it actually happens.

I'm usually 'oh, well that's sad' when big names I actually care about die, but I can't say I really feel all that much.

This, however...I'm feeling it. It really is like losing a loved one, even without having ever met the man.

5
one3five 5 points ago +5 / -0

i knew it was coming soon because he'd been off the show and thought i was prepared for it but when i tuned in today and heard Kathryn's announcement, i bawled like a baby

I never wanted to miss an episode!

A great man. God has recalled that talent on loan, and we will feel the absence for years to come.

But we must carry on what he started. He's been fighting for decades to equip us to fight for ourselves. Now it's our turn, so he can rest.

4
ILoveSilk 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is truely sad. I only listened to his show couple times. Absolutely a patriot with common sense and true conservative. I listened to Mark Levin show 3, 4 times. At first I liked it and then I feel he is just a lousy talker. Then not long time ago, he was extremely rude and condescending to a woman audience who called in to his podcast just because the woman asked where these true leaders are . Since then I stopped listening and will never go back especially now he is with Faux and he is NOT a good host - lack of charisma and ability to interact with guests. I listened to Dan Bongino longer and more but something is missing. He is good. He is more a doer but not a great leader that will stand and lead. And he got his feet too deep in those startup "conservative" businesses which may affect his vision and sharpness a lot.

3
bumpman 3 points ago +3 / -0

I listened to Bongino for a while but he tends to drag out his teasers too long sometimes before getting to the point, I still listen now & then. But there are two shows I listen too that are available as podcasts that I rarely miss, one of them was Rush which I'll really miss, tough sob kept hosting up until last week I believe while fighting through the pains of his cancer.

The other is the greg kelly show which you can watch/listen as a podcast, one of the last tv hosts that will not back down to the woke and strongly supports and gives updates on Trump.

2
ILoveSilk 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks. Is the same Greg Kelly the host with Newsmax? I didn't know he has a podcast. I will look for it. Thanks.

4
Palazzolo1 4 points ago +4 / -0

CuomoisaMassMurderer 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm just gonna pour my heart out in grief here, in case some Frens read it. The thread title is the most appropriate I've encountered. Its almost 8 PM local time, and I'm just learning of Rush's passing, which may be God's Mercy. Cancer is cruel.

In addition to every other tribute to his legacy, I was first politically awakened by him. Certainly not before 1991. I discovered the source of the DS in 1990, and hadn't yet connected the dots to current politics. I don't recall Rush going that deep immediately, but he never shied away from the stark truth either.

Last year was one dagger to the heart after another. I've been killdozer furious for over a year now, but haven't lost my cool at anybody. 911 was a deliberate dagger to the heart of our Nation, even without the DS betrayal.

Rush's passing hits me like another dagger to the heart. I am in fact immortal, risen with Christ. Whom shall I fear? Surely not man!

We have western civilization to preserve, a Nation to save, a Constitution to defend ...

and a conquering Saviour to lead us; DJT is a creature, not the Creator. Our Creator, Blessed forever, has a great deal to say about the importance of Frens ... may Rush be ushered into His Glorious Presence without delay

3
JesusWept 3 points ago +3 / -0

Excellent expression of the thoughts and feelings I share with you. I thank God he gave me Rush for the last 32 years, to help me learn, help me to laugh, remind me to reason. My heart is sore, but I am happy for him...all of a life is really only a few short minutes - we are literally like the grass that grows and withers in a day. Its not long til we pass through to experience the great joy the Lord has for us, if we trust in him. Rush often acknowledged the Lord, so we have good hope that we will meet him as our brother in the place of true liberty.

Rush was an amazing influence on my life, With the wisdom of Rush I was able to red pill my mom and dad, and most recently one of 2 sisters... Amazing Patriot and loving husband. When he was given the Medal of Freedom from The current and only " President Trump" the love between his wife and him was palpable on TV.

2
Madpoli 2 points ago +2 / -0

Never really had the opportunity to appreciate him because I only became interested in politics recently after turning 18 in September but I listened to him a little bit between election day and now. Although my dad used to listen to him a lot at work so he probably misses him much more. But still, RIP to Rush you were a great man.
