If we get that stimmy check, definitely get one. It is wellllllllll worth the money. Get one that can run on multiple fuels. Make sure to put the generator in some place where someone can't steal it because when it gets desperate out you get all the entitled parasites coming out expecting you to help them. They hear the engine running that's how they know you have a generator. Also make sure to have it properly vented to prevent carbon monoxide.
My personal setup is that I have it in the garage and have an exhaust pipe to the outside. I put a small hole in my wall so I can run electrical cords from the garage to the inside of the house. That way if you want to conserve energy/heat you can run the cord to a specific room if needed. Works like a charm!
I stocked up in January after the DC farce. Kicking myself that I didn't pull the trigger on that generator purchase.
Ever since I bought the generator, I don't have power outages anymore.
Best anti-outage purchase I've made! 699$ at Costco.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I've never used my propane radiant heaters after spending 400 bucks on them.
But i'll never sit in a 20 degree home in the dark ever again either.
Please post in DIY. You seem to know more about this than most. We should expect this to become "the new normal"
