Please explain why you say a third party isn't viable in most places.

Like so much else, this community is incredibly divided on this point.

We need to discuss this, in earnest. Disclaimer: I can see both sides and don't have a strong position on this either way.

It’s just about duplicating work to me. The infrastructure already exists in the Republican Party, instead of creating it all over again, we just have to be involved at the local level and take over this apparatus. Also, I believe a lot of the “right wing” institutions (think Fox News) could get back in line if they realize that there is no other political option but MAGA on the right.

Plus, there is no chance of splitting votes. The new party will be cast as the radical right wing party and your grandma who has voted Republican all her life (or at least once she started paying her own bills) might not be comfortable voting with the crazy MAGA people.

Agreed. And until 1/6 I thought this was the prevailing argument.

Between Ronald McDonald remaining as head of the RNC and everything else we've seen out of the party and elected officials, it seems evident the party infrastructure that's in place might as well be Democrats.
