Back in 94 I was a ditto head in college, watch Rush's tv show and listened on my car radio.. I lived with 3 liberals, tried to get them to watch but didnt know about cognitive dissonance back then, only one even showed a little curiousity. Well drive back to college in January after the winter break, right after a winter storm, in NY, we had just got 8 inches of snow, temp 10 degrees, gusts down to negatives... Told the roads were clear so headed up, few people on the road, listened to Rush on the way up to college..

Somewhere along the Thruway around exit 17 to 19... Rush got into an anti-environmental anti-conservation rant which always turned me off... Rush said"The best thing about trees is you could cut them down and make something out of them!"

Pissed me off! Leaned to turn off the channel and grab a tape... drifted into the right side shoulder lane and discovered ..... black ice.... My two right tires were on it and I continued to drift right into the shoulder snow embankment... seemed like I had forever as I drifted into that wall of ice...tried braking.. nothing, turning my wheels, nothing...

Bam! Rumbling as my side of my car was slamming into the snow embankment.. then a mile marker took a 15" chunk of my rear fender off and jackknifed me perpendicular straight across the road!

I hit the median which also had a snow embankment, but this one acted like a ramp! My car became airborne...

In the air I could see an 18 wheeler heading south and I was heading right into its path.. Seeing the far side of the road is a drop off into a valley 100+ feet deep..only a guard rail and another snow embankment which could act as another ramp on the other side.

I cleared the median and landed on the OTHER side of the Thruway on the snow embankment..which exploded on impact and spin my car a further 180 degree!

Hearing the screeching of the trucks brakes.. hoping the truck doesnt slam into me...

Got out, I was alive, truck stopped the other shoulder, he couldn't believe what he saw, straight out of Dukes of Hazard. Was amazed at how relative damage my car had.. he called into the State troopers..

I was physically 100% fine, State trooper gave me a ticket for illegally changing lanes, started my car dumbfounded and was able to drive off...when through a break in the median and headed back to college..

So thanks to Rush I flew in my car!
