Back in the 90's there was a Chinese restaurant near where I worked that did a descent take-out at lunch but hardly any business in the dining room.
Someone convinced them to set up a Rush Room in their back dining room and play Rush from 12:00 - 3:00.
Word spread, and within a couple weeks the place was packed. The camaraderie in the room was incredible. People who never met met before became immediate friends.
Anyone who walked in alone was warmly welcomed at any table with an empty chair.
Rush Rooms were like small-scale Trump rallies.
Rush gave birth to in-your-face, America first, political discourse. He allowed us to be proud of our values over a plate of Kung Pao.
Stopped in one on a drive from Atlanta to NY. My father couldn’t wait to bring me. Stopped at some bar in NC. Will never forget. Miss Rush already.
