At my house we lost power Monday morning at 2 am. Im not a prepper but I do have a small generator. My son and I sawed up some tree limbs I had put in the burn pile in the back of the property. I had a bunch of old 2x4s I was saving for a ramp thing I was gonna build. They were free so we sawed them up too. We had some propane applainces (Hank Hill) and we fired them up and cooed food and made hot drinks. No internet .I do have a small battery radio ,but the constant comercials irritate us both.We watch No Country for old men and another movie. We got to know each other a little better.Im pissed at Oncor for ripping us off and not upgrading the power infrastructure.Couple of days of testing and we came through it O,and stronger as a family.
Many years ago up north, a terrible storm front knocked out power to my neighborhood for several days. My family had nothing to do but talk, play board games, light candles and listen to the radio. On day two when our food was about to spoil, we cleared out the freezer and had the most massive family BBQ ever.
The whole experience really brought our family closer together; in fact when the lights came back on, I was actually disappointed because I wanted uninterrupted family time a little longer.
Yes I am gonna say it was. My family has troubles like most and I have been asking God to be closer to my Son,who is 26 and came to live with me last June to afford finishing trade scholl without debt.So I got a prayer answered.
I heard from a next door neighbor today about a guy who got caught unprepared. He too his rip saw ro his privacy frence. Hey.,I saw Do what you gotta do and to be honest we all need to get etter prepared.I already have plans to visit my Sister and Bro in Law more next year up on the Red River. He has 65 acres of mesquite and I got a chainsaw and a trailer and a 3/4 ton deisel truck.
I traced my family(paternal side) back to before the American Revoltion againsts Britain. My GratGranddad started fighting the War of Northern agression when he was in his fortys. Yep...American Spirit here.

Yep, the internet, gift and curse.
Epic Meat Sweats
This is the way. Right here.
It's almost a blessing in disguise. You force people to bond and communicate. You make them talk to eachother. Like, really talk.

This is the American spirit I admire so much.
