In general, situations like this call for linemen called in from nearby states, and with the size of Texas, that would be difficult. Now as for the blame. Trump would have been blamed for this, in spite of the fact that there would be little he could do.
Question? Why does it seem as though Biden is incapable of taking any actions at all on this matter? Is it to spite Texas, or is it that he literally holds no power?
Texas produces way more energy then they need. They were denied the ability to ramp up production, as that must pass federal regulators. Who is in charge of that?
A shitload of coal/oil plants were shut down because fee-fees with Paris accord, but China/India can burn, baby burn everything and anything.
Windmills only work if they're spinning, AOC.
Those windmills are mostly around Sweetwater/Post area. What dumbass didn't think that area should have the heaters (ice melt) on those? It gets below freezing in that part of Texas.
Those fancy solar panels the state spent billions on? Yeah, those don't work with snow on them. They also don't work when you buy shitty, cheap ones that collapse and break when they have ice and snow on them.
There is a gigantic nuclear plant in the state. It's not online because the fed said it doesn't meet new regulations because the original plans were drafted in the early 00's, only approved recently and the new technology that makes them safer/more efficient has to now be implemented, aka the timeline was just lengthened to where they change again and it'll never be turned on. But, don't worry, the 12 in France are fine.
This state powers 12 other states, but they apparently can't have their power cut, so fuck us, right?
The biggest one. Energy companies would rather save their people/trucks until things are passable so that they can then go fix the issue. I get this one. Not worth killing people and losing equipment trying to fix something now.
Wealthy areas and downtowns never lost power, but they only turned off downtowns when people started bitching on socialist media that they're powering buildings with no one in them because the major cities were posting photos of the pretty skylines surrounded by darkness as a giant "fuck you." Wealthy areas still never lost power though and poor/destitute areas were turned off first.
The amount of shit being slung around about how more regulations would fix this problem are rampant here now. If regulations were so good, how come the east and west coasts can't handle a/c systems in the "hot" summers they have, but this whole state can run every house at 68F when it's 105+F for two months?
Power isn't the biggest problem. It is currently, but the fisheries, gulf and wildlife (non-fish aquatic) are getting fucked right now with the worst being anything that's in the gulf. The long term of the gulf will be bad for a while and expect commercial and recreation limit changes.
They were put up as an addition to the grid, not a replacement, and they're owned by power company. They only release the brakes when they need the power during surge times. When you don't need the power and they aren't spinning and, when they get covered in ice because they aren't moving, you have no way of cleaning the system without heating coils or flying a helicopter while spraying it with deicer, you can't turn it on because the added weight will break it.
Think of it as the fan in your house. When you want a breeze, you use it and when you don't you don't. Now go tape some coins to all the blades and turn it on high.
The hilarious part about the windmills is that the blades are only good for 5ish years then you have to replace them. Go look up "windmill blade graveyard" and see how "green" they are.
Definitely and anyone that says otherwise is a retard. He went above and beyond in every natural disaster situation. Just goes to show you that he really cared about us. We will never see another President like him unless he decides to run in 2024
He'd have been down there passing out supplies, and the MSM would have mocked him. I miss Trump.
Good point, he probably would have been there in person too.

I do like the cut of your jib.
He talked about thing they planned on doing last I heard, but noting they actually did.
Why not both?
Of coarse!
They could use some of their National Guard back. Just sayin'.
I bet he would have been monitoring it before it got bad and at least had things like fuel, generators, NG, water, etc staged and ready to go.
No?
This isn't something that can be easily or quickly fixed. You can't just ramp up GRID tolerance, dude.
Some things you literally have to wait out because the fix would take longer than the problem to go away.
The grid doesn't have the energy it needs to accommodate everyone's power being restored and everyone turning their furnaces on.
Energy is finite. You can't just run some generators in series and call it good. It'll take months/years to ramp more generation plants.
He would have at least came down here and provided supplies himself. Not a fucking peep from that piece of shit occupying the White House.
Bidens playing Mario Kart while Texas freezes to death.

Try to keep up if you are going to gas light.
yeah but do you think Joe & the hoe care if Texans go a few extra days without aid....
Didn't they pull a submarine into Galveston after a hurricane to power a hospital years ago?
We have submarines.
Texas has ports.
Something is better than nothing.
I know its nothing on the scale of what the entire state would need but, just a thought.
There's several problems with power here.

Can someone explain this? I mean we have tones of windmills in Canada here and they work 365....

30,000 national guard providing aid and manpower where it’s needed instead of propping up a pseudo-coup in DC

Goddamnit Pence! Why did you have to be like this? We could have had so many memes about Electric Pence this week but you done goofed!
What has Governor Abbott done? Haven't seen him at all through this.
Yes
Executive order to reactivate the coal and nat gas power plants? Or can an EO not do that? Not too sure on US law being a filthy redcoat and all. :p
We should follow Sweden’s example. They burn their trash and recycling to generate power.
No. Flint water is still screwed up.
