Went to lunch a few weeks ago. You have to wear a mask to your table. Then it get's even better. You need to keep it on until your drinks arrive, then you may remove it. I asked the server why? They had no legitimate answer.

I don't get the thinking at this point. I'm going to a very public place, to have a meal, prepared by people with questionable hygiene skills, served by people that are handling both money and the credit machine, while others walk by my table crop-dusting me. How is keeping a mask on until my drink arrives "saving" me from covid?

If I was that afraid, I sure as fuck wouldn't be going for a meal at germ central station.

If it was a work lunch or you were on your lunch break, I completely understand staying. But if this were just a lunch with friends or family, I would have stood up and said "we're going somewhere else". These people have to be told that we realize how stupid these policies are. I also refuse to spend money anywhere that goes above and beyond with the covid shit. Yoga studio that requires a questionnaire and temperature check every visit? No. Gym that has a mask sign on the door, but the employees look the other way when I start working out and the mask "accidentally slips off"? Yes.

Yeah. It’s the inconsistency which irritates me. I can actually accept that masks would be helpful in situations like subways, elevators etc where you are sharing their air with people for a short amount of time. Masks would plausibly reduce infections there.

But if you’re sitting around a table eating and talking and stuff, a mask isn’t going to do shit when you’re there for two hours. It’s not like a protective magic spell.

Just wear a mask that is obviously useless. I have one that is lace — it is obviously pointless, the air goes right through it. People don’t care, as long as I look like I’m complying! That’s how you know it’s all bullshit.
