Overweight people are considered beautiful in societies and cultures with little resource or abundance. It shows you can obtain scarce food and you must have cunning wit, expert survival skills or connections to successful people to gain so much. You can survive fasting when no food is available. This is the reason why some of us are attracted to fat people as opposed to skinny or muscular. But why do this in an abundant society? Are they are warning us of the possible socialist future, including famine, where people like this will be seen as fertility and wealth symbols when others are starving to death?
