It's insane. We had no power or running water today. Power is restored now, it's been on for over an hour, and Abott claims many hundreds of thousands have been restored, so I'm hoping we're one of them. Water's still out, hopefully none of the pipes froze and they're able to fill up the tanks again and begin filtration and roll it out.

Whats worse is since the water ran out, we went to the store, albeit slowly as the road conditions were abysmal, but all the shelves were bare. They had put drapes on the freezer shelves essentially meaning that there was nothing available in terms of dairy or meats, but people were going behind it and just grabbing things just in case, hoping it hadn't gone bad. There was no water.

I was there with my father, and we just decided to buy a dozen 2 litter bottles of soda to be able to flush the toilets. What the fuck is this, Venezuela?

It can't completely be blamed on wind turbines indeed, there is gross incompetence at play here, but certainly if we're on that subject, I will say that I want absolutely 0 subsidies in renewables or oil. Eliminate all the subsidies and taxes on energy, and let the free market play out. Stop with all the absurd restrictions in the name of climate, if you actually believe in that, invest in those companies that are dealing with it with your own money, and heck, you may even make a few bucks. But don't force me into paying for what you believe: that's called slavery, and it's been abolished.

Yes! Eliminate energy subsidies. This isn’t a problem of wind and solar, this is a problem of a protectionist government kowtowing to the demands of the energy industry. Adjacent states that aren’t singularly focused on enriching energy tycoons are having not near the Problems Texas is.

As America-First patriots we should all support any economically feasible energy generation projects that will contribute to American prosperity, not suck up to oil and gas companies looking to make a quick buck.

As a staunchly pro-labor conservative, I can tell you this wouldn’t have happened if our energy and housing infrastructure had been built by hard working Americans who knew that they would earn an honest wage for an honest days work. Instead we decided to pander to a few Texas Hundred+ millionaires who just wanted to make money off of selling us a necessity.

Why is nobody talking about the 4+ Texan coal power plants that were shut down in the last 3 years because they couldn't afford to comply with the federal government's draconian pollution regulations? (link 1, link 2)

Why is nobody talking about Rick Perry's dumbass green energy legislation requiring that Texan power be 25% solar and wind by 2015 and 40% by 2025? (link)

Why is nobody mentioning either of those? Kinda fuckin' weird, don't you think?
