Greetings, pedes! Not really a 'post' person usually. Tend to stick to lurking. But this happened today, and I want to point this out to people. I work on a farm in Arkansas. Sitting in a restaurant after working chickens all day. Three police officers come in, all wearing masks. For the most part, polite group. Being a small town, for the most part, we have all had words to some extent at one time or another, and I dont recall these guys ever being any sort of mean or anything. I decide I wanted to ask them some questions. I approach their table, and the three officers turned to greet me. This is as close to ver batum as I can manage. Officer 1is a middle aged dude, 2 is a young one, 3 old. 3 did not talk, and will be excluded. Me: Good evening officers. I was wondering if I could sit with you and ask you gentlemen some questions. O1: I dont have any problem with it.

O2: Me, either. Let me move my stuff.

Me: Awesome. So, there are 2 items that have been on my mind. The first is I want to talk about masks, and mandates.

  • O1 and O2 laugh -

O1: We wont have anything to do with that. Thats all Department of Health.

Me: That decide if an establishment has been found to be breaking mask mandates?

O1: Yes.

Me: Ok, and when they have decided to shut down an establishment, what would happen if they reopened, against the rules of the Department of health? I imagine you would get a call, correct?

  • Long awkward pause as it sinks in -

O2: What is your goal here?

Me: Just to understand the views of our local police officers.

Me: Let me shift gears real quick. Have you gentlemen heard of HR 127?

O1: No, what's that?

Me: Basically the next attempt at a gun grab.

I think at this point he lost patience with me, because the conversation became much more uncomfortable at that point

Me: Its actually a lot of rules as well as a registration, and regulatory hoops to jump through, as well as a fine disguised as insurance. I wont bore you, but I highly reccomend looking it up.

O2 brings out a pen and paper and writes it down

O1: Any more questions?

Me: Just one additional. If an order came down for you to seize guns from an american citizen, would you do it?

O1: They sign my check.

Me: Thank you for the conversation, gentlemen. Enjoy your meal.

I know it's a pain to read through, but I wanted to let you guys know.... the police, even down to the red sleepy little towns in the bible belt, they are all down to take your rights away. Maybe not all of them, sure, granted. But enough of them will just shrug and say "yes, sir" when told to infringe on your rights. I know I am not high energy, and I apologize for this. Im just a concerned pede, and I am horrified that it has gotten this far. What the hell do we do? When the creepers come knocking on our door in minecraft, looking to take our swords and bows, is that the time?

I salute you, as what you do NOW takes more courage than being a soldier, imo. And im not trying to be a downer or anything. but straight up, this encounter has probably done more than most of the other news I have seen. NOW I KNOW that the next encounter with a police officer will likely end with both of us walking away, or neither of us walking away. I am scared because this is now 1984. There are thought police. its not to the point of "thought-crimes" yet, but brother..... its coming down the pipeline somewhere. I feel for you, because I know that you are out there, pede, and that YOU wouldnt do it. But its not you that I am going to meet. Its THIS asshole officer that WILL do it. These are my local officers. This is my local department. These are my neighbors. And they just made it clear as day that they WILL do it.... They just waiting for the order, at this point.
