Also as a nation we are typically farther from the equator. Vitamin d levels seem to play a part in this as well

I hadn't heard that but it doesn't shock me at all. The US has a lot of vitamin D deficiency. Explains old people too, who spent a lot of time indoors.

It's also been proposed as why black people have higher death rates. Lefties want to jump immediately to "muh socio-economic reasons!!1" but lower vit D production due to darker skin is a much more obvious explanation.

On a serious note though. That makes a lot of sense darker complexions have a lot of vitamin D deficiency this far from the equator

low vitamin d is a lot of the reason blacks have sickle cell. big believer in vitamin d after it "cured" me of colitis or chron's. cant imagine if i had to pay for humidra or whatever that shit is for the last 10 yrs. also slippery elm helped me out greatly.
