Texas has seen no help from fema or red cross. Not one fucking ounce of help. We are Freezing, We have No Water, No Power, No Internet. Grocery Stores are empty, cant find anything.

Now This Story Comes Out On Our Local Fake News.... https://abc13.com/weather/fema-sending-60-generators-to-texas-amid-power-outages-/10349070/... But if you read story it seems like they are more worried about vaccine spots. This is now going on 5 days and they are talking of sending food and water and supplies and Generators... Wtf where the hell has all this shit been... Still Have Not Seen Anything.

Insulting the shit from Biden's diaper is totally uncalled for. Theoretically it could be used for fertilizer or something, .. instead of being used in that clapping game he likes and rubbed onto walls of the White House.

It's actually difficult to find something as useless as leftists to compare them to. That fact never ceases to be hilarious to me.

For a true comparison though, I liken them to a really bad natural disaster, with mayhem and suffering following them wherever they go.

This. Don't count on any form of assistance from the current regime occupying the White House. Texas and other red regions (not even states) around the country are going to have to rely on themselves. This regime is going to do everything in its power to crush us and make our lives a living hell. I hate to say this, but maybe it's time to start thinking about secession.

Maybe the red counties which make up the majority of the country can secede and continue on as the United States of America, while divorcing ourselves from the blue shitholes that make up the Clinton archipelago. We would be preserving the Union while cutting out the cancer that's infesting our nation, and makes up the remaining USSA, as it descends further into tyrannical third-world status. Alberta could join us too if they want.

Whoever desires liberty, should understand these vital facts, viz.: 1. That every man who puts money into the hands of a “government” (so called), puts into its hands a sword which will be used against himself, to extort more money from him, and also to keep him in subjection to its arbitrary will. 2. That those who will take his money, without his consent, in the first place, will use it for his further robbery and enslavement, if he presumes to resist their demands in the future.

Preparation is key. Alot of stuff needed for hurricane season was needed this week. Also having a good community of like minded people to depend on is great. 3 neighbors had busted pipes and one had a fire. We help each other. I added additional insulation to my house 2 years ago, replaced the windows last year and repiped the house with pex 3 years ago. I was able to ride it out with the inside temp saying at 50° the whole time. The pex was able to take the freeze and thaw without leaking.

1
TrumpTrainNov3 1 point ago +1 / -0

Why are so many pipes bursting? Pretty simple to turn off the incoming water supply valve and open up all the faucets to drain...?

1
NotTakingDownMyFlag 1 point ago +1 / -0

Most people, including me, decided to drip the pipes instead of draining the house out. I preferred to have running water. My brother in law drained his house but he wasn't going to be there for this week.

Will he die? No, but mostly because hes young, and not because it's no big deal. This whole "DUH, YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD A GENERATOR" is just retarded.

Prepping is al well and good, but it doesn’t do jack shit for you when your pipes aren’t insulated.

Honestly, the major component of this is the fact that our infrastructure isn’t geared to handle below freezing temps. Everything else is secondary.

Also, the news likes to focus on all the welfare cases crying about how they don’t have water. That’s entirely on those people.

Umm... if your pipes are in danger of freezing, you don't turn off the water, that will just leave water in the lines to your house and they WILL freeze. You actually have to leave the water running all the time. Where I live it is so cold you have to leave a faucet on all winter (starting in January) or the pipes will freeze.

Yeah, Texans are kinda showing their weak side. I live in ND and it freezes here a lot. Sometimes our water will Freeze, sometimes power outages. But generally, even at -30 people are still out doing their life and working.

Only time it really stops is under white out conditions.

29
TXPatriot_73 29 points ago +30 / -1

I design buildings. The differences in the building codes between Texas climate zones and ND climate zones are huge as far as insulation requirements are concerned. Nothing here is designed to be in this cold of weather for this long. It is all failing. Water utilities need parts to fix pumps that froze, but can't get any because truck aren't running again yet, because the roads are a mess and we don't have plows and salt trucks. Same for grocery stores, no food because no trucks. I lived in Minnesota for a while and the opposite is true there. The worst week I was there, the temps were -20 with wind chill -40. It was cold, but those buildings are designed to withstand it. They don't do well in heat above 90 though, as a lot of homes don't even have A/C, just heat. It's not about our "weak side", you have to consider the actual physical differences of the regions. I'd be curious to see how well you fare after a week of 100+ temps with 95% humidity. It's like living in a sauna.

2
Creepy_Ginger 2 points ago +5 / -3

I'm pretty sure a beaten down Trailer that's older than my mom isn't exactly building standards.

3
TXPatriot_73 3 points ago +4 / -1

Well you got that right! Those are even less equipped to deal with cold weather, and there's probably millions of them here.

0
Creepy_Ginger 0 points ago +3 / -3

And you mean 100+ Temps with Air Condition at every building?? I was in Garland Texas working on HVAC on roofs there. Well, it was a school I was going to.

I don't like HVAC but there are ways to deal with heat. Just like there are ways to deal with cold.

No one is better than the other, you're not out there every day in direct sunlight like I'm not outside in direct ice cold weather, because if I was, I'd be dead with frostbite in 10 minutes.

5
TXPatriot_73 5 points ago +5 / -0

You're right, one area isn't better or worse, just different. And yes, there are ways to deal with cold... we just don't have many of them here. I am knowledgeable enough to understand the differences and had my house well prepared, but I'm without running water because the 8" main feeding my area froze and ruptured (I do have plenty of stored water for drinking/bathing, and we collected snow to melt for flushing the toilets). On top of that, everybody dripping their faucets to keep their home's pipes from freezing has actually lowered the storage tanks in my area below a certain level, which automatically shut down the pumps to keep them from burning up, which caused them to freeze instead. The system was never designed to provide for this much demand all at once. It's a clusterfuck of conditions our infrastructure just wasn't built to handle. Hopefully things will get better after temps start staying above freezing on Saturday. Granted, there are plenty of people who had no idea what we were in for, so I've been making the rounds making sure all my neighbors are taken care of, delivering cases of water to folks weren't prepared.

5
Tejas_Pepe 5 points ago +16 / -11

Fuck off Commie, Texas is 102 in the shade, not -6. It hits 85 you pussies will be showing your weak side.

3
TXPatriot_73 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep. The year I lived in Minnesota was to play football. That year in my part of Texas, the first two weeks of August were 100+. I was in Minnesota starting the 3rd week of August for 3-a-day practices, and the high temps were around 85, and it was breezy too. Those Minnesota guys were dropping like flies around me from the "heat" while I was barely breaking a sweat. That all changed completely when winter hit, and these fools were in shorts when it was 10 degrees, while I was bundled up in my room, lol.

That's true, but how often does it get that hot, and for how long at a time? Sure you can handle a day or two without much problem, but if it goes for a week or more, people start dying. I've lived up north, and the people there just aren't acclimated to it... just like we aren't acclimated to this extended cold. We get temps of 100+ for weeks at a time, yet it typically only snow a tiny bit every few years. What's happening now is very uncommon.

4
drjillsusedscrunchie 4 points ago +5 / -1

We've never had a winter storm where an agency (ERCOT) has discretion on what cities, subdivisions, and houses get power and others don't. Yes, we've had rolling blackouts before, but never this controlled blackout bullshit.

It also just so happens, that the Chinese bought land near Del Rio, TX to build a wind farm. Also, 5 of the 15 ERCOT BOD members don't even live in Texas. There is some fuckery going on, and that's why many Texans are pissed.

I don't know a single person who uses water instead of antifreeze... I have insulated pipes in the attic that burts. Not much you can do when indoor temperature gets to the teens for days straight. A few hundred bucks wasn't going to prevent this. Pex pipes would run me about $15000. Kinda gets hard to justify that when I'm over 30 years old and this is the longest cold snap I've ever seen in my side of town ever. Yes we've had hard freezes before but not this cold for this long. I'm estimating my damage to around $10000. It's hard justifying spending thousands of dollars for something I might never see again for another 30 years.

North Texas gets snow every year, Dallas is a 4.5 hour drive from me. I can drive to Florida faster than I can get to Amarillo. Snow and ice in Dallas isn't uncommon. We didn't see any of that over here. People underestimate how big Texas is.

1
America1stAndOnly 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's going to backfire. This event is showing Texans that the forced green energy regulations from the federal government sabotaged them, and then the very same government wouldn't even help them out when they needed it. What Texans are being shown right now is that they are receiving no benefits from being part of the country and only penalties. Why would they stick around?

This is downright idiotic logic. Texans absolutely can and should speak up because they pay loads of federal taxes. When the Feds don’t do their jobs with that money, that’s even more of an impetus to secede. It’s further proof that the Federal gov’t isn’t worth the trouble.

If I pay you to fix my car and you don’t fix it but take my money anyways, only a complete fucking cucked faggot wouldn’t speak up about that.

3
America1stAndOnly 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thank you! Finally someone else here gets it. This event will only encourage secession, not discourage it.

-3

I think they hate you 'cause they ain't you.

Arizona, my state, deserves a lot more lambasting than we've been getting. We've been such shit since the election. At least you guys in Texas properly held the line.

1
RegularAmerican 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's the arrogance. Were all in the same boat. Some people in the texas row are still going "fuck grabbing a bucket to bail water, it's all on your side of the boat."

Now to watch them go through what they claimed to be above is poetic justice.

-1
ObamasLooseButthole -1 points ago +3 / -4

We don't hate Texas, we're just laughing at you not having basic preparations for losing power. Losing power isn't a winter thing, it can happen at anytime so people should already have generators and the like ready to go.

3
Tejas_Pepe 3 points ago +4 / -1

Yeah, nobody in Texas has a generator. You are a true fucking retard.

1
ObamasLooseButthole 1 point ago +3 / -2

I didn't say no one in Texas had a generator, just that a lot of you are retards for not having one.

2
PraiseBeToScience 2 points ago +3 / -1

That's not even that big of a deal. Puerto Ricans didn't have power for like 9 goddamn months, these guys can't survive 4 days?

Yes it's cold as all fuck, but guess what, your body naturally generates enough warmth to keep you alive if you bother to insulate yourself up. How do you think people survive on goddamn Mt. Everest? Coats... jackets... jesus christ even if you didn't have any of that shit you can just wrap yourself in a fucking rug.

1
Tejas_Pepe 1 point ago +3 / -2

So, everyone in your state owns a generator?

1
ObamasLooseButthole 1 point ago +2 / -1

Of course not, idiots are in every state. The difference is, even those without one and have no access to one generally don't sit around saying "oh poor me". They just wait it out. Hell, before I got a generator I once went without power for 9 days had power for 1 day and then it was out for another 3, it sucks being cold but that's what extra layers and blankets are for.

17
oldhankdonald 17 points ago +17 / -0

They are paying federal taxes so they should be getting emergency treatment. You’d have a point if they could stop paying the Fed. If the Fed is withholding funds to make Texas look bad, then secession really does make sense.

1
RegularAmerican 1 point ago +1 / -0

What can they really do tho? I think they should subsidize energy prices for heating during times like this myself. But I remember the power going out in half of LA county like ten years ago. There was no FEMA. The locals managed the problem. Socal Edison, Henkels& McCoy PGE that's when they earn those huge paychecks.

1
oldhankdonald 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don’t think the government should help at all with power restoration or subsidizing energy costs. I meant for the people who can’t get water, food, or are freezing to death. That humanitarian aspect is like any other natural disaster. Many people experience 1-2week outages every decade or so but if they’re is an issue getting water and food, the utilities can only do so much. And yes - getting power to water plants and sewer lift stations and such are the top priority.

93
IncredibleMrE1 93 points ago +93 / -0

Sounds like Texas needs to cut all tax contributions to FEMA.

22

Yes, that’s not the part that you have to be concerned about. You have to have a person who is convincing as a leftist who is actually MAGA. You have to have someone with a steel spine. 24
FireannDireach 24 points ago +24 / -0

They're not talking about home units, that are in the 5-20kw range. We're talking the big boys, that are basically a shipping container on wheels with a massive diesel generator in it. They can provide hundreds of kilowatts each.

It's not nearly enough, and should have been deployed days ago, but at least they can run a hospital off one, if they don't have one already.

9
Trump2024 9 points ago +9 / -0

I thought part of the problem with the hospitals was not because they don't have generators but because they don't have the fuel to power them.

11
Tryhardneckbeard 11 points ago +11 / -0

Correct, the lines for the nat gas were freezing as well. People are bitching this was preventable this and that but even the Cities Mains that were double insulated froze and busted... 2
mugwump 2 points ago +2 / -0

As far as I’ve seen from civil work I’ve done in Texas most hospitals opt for a diesel system with sometimes quite sizable tanks (10-30k gal). Water and food is more of a concern at the moment.

2
Trump2024 2 points ago +2 / -0

God help you all!

2
Shadow3 2 points ago +2 / -0

Most crucial facilities like Hospitals and main utility locations will have permanent generators with auto switch-overs somewhere next to the building the size of a van. Other small buildings may have a generator plug available near the power entry to the building, so that they can roll up a mobile one like construction crews use whenever they need it.

2
RegularReplacement 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I wanted to know the capacity of these generators, but then I thought no matter how big they are where is the fuel for them coming from? Even the Army generators I ran way back when at max load, 2 KW, they burned 5+ gallons of diesel in 8 hours. That's what? 3 maybe 4 house powered on that generator? FEMA is acting like this is a joke.

I'm in college station and no one is really getting to fucked. Maybe in an near sanctuary city with too many dumb people they are having a hard time, but where I'm at everyone is just sort of inconvenienced.

Like. I just had on/off power and had to cook when power was on and do something else besides youtube when power was off. And then someone else's apartments pipe busted and fucked my whole building and so there is no water. But the electrical is back so. I don't know.

I have water, food, shelter not in any kind of emergency. Had thermostat at 68 on heat and don't think got below 60 with rolling power. Literally just got out the 30° sleeping bags and put them beneath comforter. Uh.. yeah don't know. A lot of people around here aren't really worried the stores are getting bare because they don't have trucks coming in, but I mean I have pantry food for month easy. Rice beans flour, canned proteins, water. A lot of people do. Some people are grabbing and hoarding but I'm just taking what I need in case of power issue again don't want to get stuck with a lot of bulk meat or dairy.

But again. In the college station/bryan area no one is suffering. Line wrapped around chick fil a last night at 9:00pm as they were closing lol.

Got friends and family out to navasota to south and Iola to north co workers in hearne No one is having a hard time, just inconvenient, maybe a little grungy and bored.

Average adult not having problems. Special medical needs maybe having problems. Homeless maybe having problems Unprepared illegal / impoverished maybe having problems. 90% average citizens just mildly agitated, of they are crying it's because they are just spoiled. The only problem that is concerning is the logistics because we suck at freight transport in snow so logistics are just pause until temps stay over 32° for more than 24 hours. Rolling power outage was interupting internet and power so info and ordering was also interupted for stores and business. But now power is back and coming back quickly for others we just have to Wait for trucks to equip for snow/liability issues to resolve or snow to melt whichever comes first

Then we have to go around and repair a bunch of leaky pipes and we are good to go.

Average person literally just needs to sign on their ass with a blanket and eat Raman for a week. Still spoiled should not be crying

Edit: many of us enjoyed the added benefit of not being obligated to show up to work as well. I got free passes on tardy for sure. I woke up with the sun until I got ready took my time and got to blame it on snow but really the drive wasn't that bad.

3
Farage_massage 3 points ago +3 / -0

That’s a cool story, I had elderly relatives that were sat in 30° house next to a gas heater, Without power, with water out entirely for 3+ days. Not everyone has the ability to prepare as well as you, or got let off as easily as you were.

We pay federal taxes, I expect everyone to get exactly what they need before we send a dollar to some shithole for “Gender studies” etc.

This exactly. We shouldn’t be asking for government handouts. That’s a leftist thing to do. Texans knew this was coming for at least a week. The smart ones prepared. I bet you every person suffering from the cold in Texas is leftist.

time to chop down all the windmills and go straight coal and oil energy production. Belt out plumes of smoke.

7
1775Concord 7 points ago +7 / -0

All that natural gas NOT being used . It's one of the cleanest , energy efficient ways to generate power . Texas should demand that GRID OPERATOR start CONNECTING back to gas fired generating plants INSTEAD of those ugly , bird killing wind mills.

5
DennJW 5 points ago +7 / -2

To be fair, other States have windmills that operate in sub-zero temperatures every year with no/few problems. Texas chose to build windfarms that couldn't take low temps, and a grid that couldn't quickly handle farm dropouts.

Texas needs to prioritize: 1) fixing the current grid breakdowns, 2) keeping the backup plants running, 3) expanding quick-start gas-turbine backups, 4) winterizing windfarms.

There is no reason Texas can't succeed here. This was a failure of planning. All of these lapses can be corrected. Texas building codes should probably be upgraded considering how long the Solar Minimum will be.

9

im from canada. looking down from up north this looks gross to me. if this had happened last year the media would have been up trumps ass before the first snow finished falling . he would have personally visited and had help on the way before it even got this bad . every hurricane was handled better than this. the wildfires were handled better than this. its like the biden admin is just ignoring this until it goes away . this is bush jr fumbling katrina all over again

9
Glockstr 9 points ago +9 / -0

I don't need or want a fema generator although I paid for it. I don't want or need guvment cheese even though I paid for it. All I want is for Ercot's yankee board members to get fucked and be replaced by Texans. I want Texas to ignore begging the feds to increase their output and crank up the electricity. I want to build about 4 more nuclear reactors, keep coal and gas as a reliable backup. If they want to keep the windmills and solar to teach the kids stuff, fine but they aren't reliable during hard times and should only be used as a supplement.

1
residue69 1 point ago +1 / -0

-4
altaG12 -4 points ago +2 / -6

I can't understand TXans on this board demanding fed gov't help!! I guess you can't secede if you can't handle this stuff on your own!!

6
Glockstr 6 points ago +6 / -0

Part of the problem is that Texas can handle it fine. Ercot (5 of the members aren't even Texas residents) have to get permission from the feds to increase their production because it would violate pollution restrictions. Granted some of the weather did catch some behind but the weather was so unusual. Not much different than 90 degree temps making people up north thinking the world is ending. Some good lessons were learned, namely what Ercot is really doing and who all has control in the decision making. With TEXIT becoming so popular this was good timing for those lessons as well. Texans also got first hand knowledge that wind and solar should supplement, not backup.

And we will be just fine in a few days meanwhile all these counts trying to bash Texas will keep looking for their government hand outs.

I remember when Obama 1.0 screwed over the folks out around Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas when the wildfires/drought devastated the area. He refused any FEMA aid, saying "that's what those people have insurance for" I'm sure (given his middle name) he would have liked to have spread a little napalm around and finished the job.

Now, Obama 2.0 is repeating history.... the problem is that most of these liberal assholes that have infested the state from places like California are too stupid to understand the situation and vote accordingly.

And if enough of these ignorant asses relocate here to manage to get Beta elected as Governor.... we're 9-kinds-of-fucked.

Make no mistake, Texas is being punished by the current administration for having the audacity to take a stand on election fraud. This icy asshole of a storm will pass, Texas will recover (like it always does), and then you and your fellow Texans will go about the business of leading the charge against this false President who stole his current office and his fellow traitors who erode our freedoms day by day.

Wish I could cross the northern border to come help down there. We just finished at -40c snap up here in Alberta. Stay safe out there.

I hear some say TX doesn't need FEMA or ARC and they're handling it with fresh water + hot food from trucks. That FEMA + ARC are more for when homes are obliterated.

dont get to worked up about that article, just a click bate no news story,

TLDR

FEMA sent 60 generators to texas, did not say were.

also and unrelated 30 vaccine sites are closed

TX threatened secession. This is payback and "See, you can't make it without us." from the fed. They see it as a tool to get ppl to go against secession bc the optics of secession are damning and if TX was successful other states would follow. Do not rely on them, do not prove them correct!

Maybe this is God's to send all of those Commiefornia liberal pansy transplants back to CA. Freeze em out. Tough Texans will survive, but the limp wristed cucks will run back to SoCal.

E: oh, look at them getting mad at the facts! Worse than leftists.

Interesting. How about the last ten years? How many Commiefornians have moved to TX? I was pretty sure CA was top 3 for state exodus.

Stats are fun. Everyone is worried about all the NYers moving here to Florida, but in my neighborhood, I have four new neighbors from NY/NJ and they're all pro Trump.

How about not moving goal posts?

Page 7 top graph says you suck at making a point. Big whoop a bunch of 80 year olds in CA were born in Texas, since currently, CA is losing most residents to TX.

Your butthurt and mental inadequacy is duly noted. Carry on.

Sorry you were proven wrong.

Commiefornians are bailing in their state an spreading their leftist infection to Texas.

Wut? You can make your stats say anything. What do the stats look like in the past decade? My guess is your birth stats don't mean jack.

Sorry your point was nullified. Now you know what it feels like to be a leftist losing an argument.

Step 1) never rely on the government to save your ass. Have food, water, ammo, and some kind of heat source at the ready. If possible, A generator. I know they are expensive. But cut out coffee runs for a year, put money into it.

Are you feeling sufficiently "punushed" yet? Because they would love to keep going with it.

If president Trump had access to the WH, Texas would have been fixed so fast and the MSM would have said Trump is killing people by spreading covid (coof).

Write to your state senators? You know the Cuban born Cuck vacationing in Mexico.

3
Farage_massage 3 points ago +3 / -0

What’s a minority-Senate member going to do? It should be the governor making the firm request Of the executive branch.

If it’s refused or not answered promptly, then Texas needs to go rogue, kick the yanks of ERCOT, drop illegals back across the border, usurp federal judges orders etc.

Texas isn’t blue and must therefore be punished...
