My Mom's nursing home said they are NOT reopening to the public (following the guidelines they have been given) even after ALL have been vaccinated. They were told NO OPENING until the ENTIRE COUNTRY reaches 70% herd immunity. I KNEW THEN that this B.S. of control and destroying small businesses, etc. is going to continue for a VERY long time.
That is so tragic. It's such bullshit that their excuse is to protect the elderly so they don't get sick. But what about their quality of life? People who've lived to old age have seen much more crazy shit than this in their lives I'm sure. If it was me, I would rather live a life full of quality than live an elongated life of loneliness.
There are worse things in the world than for an infirm, elderly person to die a few months before they otherwise would have. I'd wager never leaving their room or seeing their family again is one of them.

Your poor mom and the other residents of the nursing home. :-(
My best friend's grandpa died alone because the nursing home wouldn't let family in... He was devastated
Why? Was he going to get covid and die before he died? I don't understand this business of not letting dying people see their families.
Drunk on power
What in the world??? Man that breaks my heart. So sorry for your best friend and his loss. When the fuck are we gonna do something against this?
