Wouldn't try. I navigate by assuming the opposite of what they say is true. Then when I say the opposite to myself and it makes no sense to anyone whatsoever then I know they are saying what they actually mean.
For example, "We will change this country fundamentally forever." Ok the opposite: we will never change this country. OK that makes no sense for someone to say that and therefore they mean and intend exactly what they said.
Oh but don't you see? You can't have unity with "hate". "hate" is so abhorrent that everything is justifiable as long as you claim to be fighting against it.
