53% percent of the Texas grid is natural gas. Natural gas is very very expensive right now so instead of Increasing the production at these plants they shut them off. Utilities are regulated and usually they charge us more than they pay for the supply. It's opposite right now. If they ramped up the natural gas plants. It would cost them more than what they can recoup from the end users.
