He has the duty to lobby the fuck out of the feds to bring more FEMA support and do his job. such a freaking moron. he's a showman and a political careerist.

1
Olds77 1 point ago +2 / -1

It's all for show. So he can do photo op stuff in Texas if he was there. The less people on the roads, in the stores and draining from the grid the better. The media makes every small thing they can into the biggest fucking thing ever and totally ignores all sorts of Democrat scandals. I'm far from the biggest fan of lying Ted, but aside from the bad optics I can't really object to this. He doesn't work on the state level and the most he could do was make a huge deal to get FEMA to work in Texas which is Joe Biden's responsibility who didn't do a fucking thing.

This is why we lose.

0
HuggableBear 0 points ago +1 / -1

So you're saying that because the man you think has awful judgment said something was the case, we should now utterly believe that man with the awful judgment instead of making our own conclusions?

Cruz is wrong. It wasn't a mistake and he shouldn't be apologizing.

Fuck yeah I am. This country is irrevocably broken.

Well, I guess I'm not an insurrectionist, more of a secessionist, but w/e.

Regardless, it doesn't matter what he called us. It's stupid to jump on someone for "not doing more" when there's literally nothing more he can do but virtue signal.

The proper response to this entire kerfuffle was to laugh at the leftists trying to crucify him. Instead, you morons have all just gone along with them and done exactly what they wanted you to do.

5
Tejas_Pepe 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yep, it ain't Abbotts fault either, but the idiot brigade will blame him because they are too lazy to seek the truth.

Abbott has fought the Feds/EPA about this shit for years, from 2012..

The Attorney General has made no secret of the enjoyment he gets out of filing suits against the administration and the EPA. “What I really do for fun is I go into the office,” Abbott said recently, “[and] I sue the Obama administration.”

Those lawsuits have come at a cost of $2.5 million, a figure Abbot’s office doesn’t dispute, and which today he called a “bargain.”

“When Texas challenges the federal government, it’s about more than money,” Abbott writes today. “It’s about principles — fundamental principles enshrined in the Constitution and recently reaffirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Texas EPA Lawsuits

The courts have ruled for the Feds/EPA in nearly every case however.

For years, the State of Texas has been filing lawsuits against the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, trying to stop it from enforcing regulations aimed at reducing power plant pollution.

Texas has lost most of the cases, including a major ruling earlier this summer by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court gave the EPA the go-ahead to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. At the PUC hearing, there was testimony that Texas would again file suit over these latest rules.

We have these damn wind turbines and solar because the Feds went after Texas with a vengeance and forced Texas to comply...

At issue are new Federal rules to cut pollution from power plants. Each state would have to come up with a plan that would cut carbon pollution, or greenhouse gases, by an average of 30 percent in less than two decades. Texas, with all its refineries and a lot of coal-burning power plants, is the largest producer of greenhouse gases and is being asked to cut more emissions than other states.

“The plan disproportionately impacts Texas and in our opinion it oversteps the law,” said Mac MarFarland, CEO of Luminant, the biggest electricity utility in Texas.

Texas Officials Blast New Pollution Rules For Power Plants

This is why the Lignite plants were closed. Don't let the Libtards blame Abbott, they want everyone mad at him and Republicans here in Texas when it's the fucking Feds who are at fault.

Cruz's only mistake was capitulating. He should have stayed in Cancun an extra week.

1
ThrolyHD 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree lol.... maybe all these people will stop relying on someone else taking care of them.... invest in a generator to run our house.... or atleast a propane heater to keep one room warm.....

p1smo 9 points ago +10 / -1

Granted, it's not really a great look to take off to Cancun while your state is crippled by natural disaster, but it's hardly a national outrage either. Like someone else said, emergency powers fall under state and federal agencies' responsibility. Other than being there for the sake of solidarity, he really wouldn't be able to accomplish much. Again, the optics aren't the greatest, but of all the things to make a fuss about, this is pretty fuckin' low on the list of priorities.

8
Barbs 8 points ago +8 / -0

That’s my main takeaway too. What he did wasn’t really “bad,” it just looked bad to the people he represents. Especially when the Feds are completely dropping the ball in Texas.

Flying off to the tropics while your constituents have no power, they’re freezing, and some are even dying, makes you look aloof and out of touch. It was a bad move for his political future.

p1smo 3 points ago +3 / -0

I don't disagree with this statement at all. Literally just got done saying as much to my lady because she's watching TMZ and the issue just came on. The flipside is I'm not going to roast him over hot coals either. It was stupid and out of touch, but with the kinds of shenanigans politicians pull these days, this is hardly even a blip on the radar.

2
HuggableBear 2 points ago +2 / -0

Armchair generals on this site 4 months ago:

Who fucking cares about optics, you pussies? Stand up and fight for what's right! The media is going to hate you anyway!

Armchair generals today:

Oh my God, the optics are so bad. This isn't a good look for him.

Maybe he had already planned it. Politicians are just people, with as much control over the weather as any.

The worst people with power want our money and and our rights so they can change the weather.

At least he isn't one of those

I don't even know what that means, and no Im not sure about anything.

Except that Trump won

1
HuggableBear 1 point ago +1 / -0

Of course it was already planned. You don't just up and go to a resort in Cancun on a whim. That shit requires advance reservations and planning.

1
Ben45 1 point ago +1 / -0

are people mad for him traveling during the china virus scamdemic or because it's during the chaos that the cold weather is causing Texas? If the latter, I'd say Cruz should prioritize the state's needs first and foremost, that is what he was elected to do. Yes, it sucks to have to give up time with your family but that's what you sign up to do. Obviously bidet won't do anything to help Texas so Cruz and other officials have to step up to get Texas through this mess.

0
HuggableBear 0 points ago +1 / -1

Cruz should prioritize the state's needs first and foremost, that is what he was elected to do

Read the Constitution again. His job is to represent the rights and sovereignty of the Texas state government, not the general needs of the state itself. There's a big difference.

That lack of understanding of a Senator's position is literally the biggest cause of this country's collapse.

Democrats are going insane over this. The politics section in 9gag for example is FILLED with stuff about Cruz.

They are all too stupid to realize he is a senator and doesn't have any responsibilities in Texas. BIDEN has more responsibilities than he does.

4

I really wasn't on the hatewagon for the guy, but him apologizing just lowered the steps to it.

3
TheBasedFriscoMan 3 points ago +3 / -0

The only thing he should have said was, “yes I went to Cancun, but Andrew Cuomo killed old people.”

They would not have dared to cover the story if he said that.

3

2
Bozhi 2 points ago +2 / -0

The media controls the narrative. The media makes this the top story.

2
Tuggy_McTuggboat 2 points ago +2 / -0

I look at it like this: (unpopular, but IDGAF)

If I had the option, I would have also left to go on vacation, but I'm waiting on letters from the state. Did this delay them and I should have gone to somewhere else? Yes. Should I have gone? Maybe.

The real story is the defending (not here, other places) of the mayor of Austin to go to a wedding in a different country, but telling people to not go see family for holidays because the 'rona. Was there a protest outside his house? No. Does this go into the category of who gives a fuck? To me, it does.

I don't see this as a gregarious error in judgement, just bad timing. Or not bad timing. This doesn't really matter.

Now if he went to dc to go bitch about the problems we're having like he was there and it personally affected him? Fuck'em. Can he go tell them to relax regs because they're retarded to get better power sources for the state? Absolutely.

2
mailinvoter 2 points ago +2 / -0

If he planned the trip after the power and water issues happened, then he should apologize or else he's almost as bad as other members of congress whose constituents step over human fecal matter in the streets. If this was a pre-planned trip, I don't think he was wrong. Just like others have said, he's just a senator. The Governors/Mayors should be on the ground handling this. He can assist remotely since he spends most of his time in DC, anyways.

2
Txiribiton 2 points ago +2 / -0

The only error is admitting an error because of fake media pressure, funny that some people believe this man could be president, he is a slave of optics.

2
KOMMISSARofMAGA 2 points ago +3 / -1
