"Reparation, atonement, is outside the teaching of Jesus Christ."
That's not true at all, it's the core of Christianity. This is a terrible argument. I know he is trying to talk specifically about "Reparations" and this idea of paying for the past sins of the nation or some bs, but that's just a terrible claim.
The argument should be focused ENTIRELY on:
Only a tiny percentage of people owned slaves.
Not all slaves were black and not all owners were White.
A huge portion of White People immigrated here AFTER the civil war.
What they are asking for is a post fact Indulgence, literally paying cash for sins that no one alive today committed. And they are asking people who are not even descended from them to pay it.
I remember when Zacchaeus stole money and then Jesus said “everyone who looks sort of like your victims should be paid back by people who look sort of like you.”
Joking aside there are parts of the Bible that say punishments can last for generations.
