I had Griddy. After the price went up to about $2 consistently by Friday and the worse weather even hadn't come yet I found a flat rate plan and switched. The switch took about 3 days and the Griddy price went up to $9 an hour in the meantime so I went out and bought a generator and shutoff the power to my house manually even though we still had electricity to avoid a bill like that.

I think the guy should pay, that's what he signed up for, but I also think that we should be able to sue ERCOT for negligence too, but that will likely never happen.

I had Griddy as well. I have 25KW of LIfepo4 batteries that I charge when the price is cheap. I use that power when prices are expensive. I pretty much always charge at night. The problem is the prices never went down. I used a generator for a while but it couldn't keep up and I bailed on Monday with a $900 bill. I made it through the 2019 heatwave with ease because I could recharge at night. I will go back to Griddy after this 3 month contract is done.
