The old people can't take it either. They're dying of loneliness too. I have two elderly people in my life i can't even visit. And they are fading without real contact. Facetime doesn't cut it for them. Everything about this is cruel and dehumanizing.

My grandparents left this world long ago, half before I was born. I've not got reason myself to do this, but I am very surprised we don't have canadians storming elderly care homes to free their parents/grandparents. At this point, can it be considered torture, what they are going through?

Yes, long-term isolation is a recognized torture tactic and is known to provoke severe psychosis and hallucinations when strictly enforced. The current lockdowns may not involve total isolation, but they'll certainly be having a powerful negative effect after a whole year.

This is an interesting article about it: https://www.sciencealert.com/isolation-has-profound-effects-on-the-human-body-and-brain-here-s-what-happens

There's a reason they put prisoners in isolation as a punishment. Because it works.

Why can't you visit them? Are they locked in prison, in solitary confinement?

They are in assisted living and locked in due to China cooties. They can't have visitors, including immediate family. And they are not being allowed to socialize and do their normal activities with other residents. Literally locked in their individual rooms alone. The worst possible situation for people who are already having cognitive issues. 🤬

Assisted living is not jail. Why aren't they, or you demanding that they be allowed freedom of movement and assembly with loved ones?

In the case of my one friend, in Illinois fwiw, his son is allowed to "visit" sitting in a chair outside 6 feet from the window. Similar rules for my family member in California. At least it's not freezing and snowing in SoCal. As far as making demands... the rules are the rules and if you don't follow them you get kicked out and have to find another place, maybe not as good, with the same rules. Additionally, both of them chose to get the vax but even after getting both shots they are still subject to the same rules about "social distancing."
