teachers are still getting full pay. Teachers are a lot like politicians. They are entitled and are supposed to serve the public interest but somehow forget that our taxpayer dollars fund them and they should at least attempt to hide their disdain for the people that support their comfortable lifestyle

If only they were simply greedy, and not primarily hell-bent on turning your sons into feminized gay/trans sexual victims, and your daughters into pierced, tattoo'd sluts embracing drugs and promiscuity, all in the name of racially-motivated genocide as a side-dish to global Marxism. I could work with greedy.

Also guess what was not affected. All the "school" programs that provide food. That shit didn't miss a beat.

Yep sitting outside the building every day with their cart of bagged lunches for no one. Never once saw someone “risk” It during a pandemic to get their free school lunch.

5
Juantinntwo 5 points ago +5 / -0

My county paid the same $ for school lunches during pandemic. Half of the lunches were made but they DELIVERED each lunch eating up the rest of the budget.

Rickshawrick 3 points ago +3 / -0

I can't blame the beneficiaries. It's the local bodies that think they know how to better spend tax dollars.. its such a crock of shit.

2
LoobintheToobin 2 points ago +2 / -0

For sure. Someone should have had the balls to examine the program and change it to meet needs, maybe redirect the funds or send the parents a cut of the funds provided for each child... but that would be useful and not easily funneled off. They can’t have that.

They aren’t refunding the money because they stole it and spent it on themselves. Same reason they aren’t opening the schools until they get more money from the Fed (us).

Here in Las Vegas police are still writing tickets for exceeding the school zone speed limits even though the public schools are not open.

6
el-y0y0s 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's a shit storm.

Emhunt_77 8 points ago +8 / -0

What gets me is the elderly are paying thousands of school taxes long after our children had children and there is no end! Go what? Do the lazy font have to work and pay them? Pisses me off

Teacher here. I’m working my ass off to plan/remake my materials so that they can be done remotely when I just wanna be able to print it all out. On top of teaching online all day, I also have students in person 4 days a week. No defense for some states banning students from entering school., that shit should be illegal. Ours is online optional and 2day a week for in-person students until they relax our restrictions on 6ft (not possible with my 32 students per class).

With that being said, bussing costs are massive each year and they are way down due to covid, more than just the 20% from attending school 1 less day a week. School lunch waste (yeah waste... half gets thrown away thanks Obama’s) is way down since half our students are absent each day. Some of our budget goes towards hiring additional staff for our poor community and since we have smaller classes in person they saved that money by not hiring anyone. We are looking at a surplus this year at our school of 10-20k after buying a ton of new chromebooks for remote learning and this is just a small school of about 450 students. The big districts have to be saving millions. I’m all for refunding what’s not used, but i have already heard that we need to use it or lose it. Admin is fearful that returning money will impact their budgets the following year which obviously just encourages wasteful spending.

Keep paying the teachers. It’s a shitty argument to say they aren’t working because you have to be in the same room while your children listen to us on the computer. But damn it, if there is money leftover don’t throw it at the fucking vampire textbook monopolies and online retailers, send it back to the communities!

Especially since they haven't yet dipped into the federal funding that is just sitting and waiting. I would like teachers pay docked and paid only for actual time spent instructing students, which ime has been 15-20 minutes a class.

Trilby 7 points ago +7 / -0

And why are teachers getting paid?

The worst part is how much money has been given to schools that are not even open. Where has this money gone?

Finally, some good journalism.

BS2020 5 points ago +5 / -0

GREAT POINT! Its why cities don't want to reopen schools -- once again THE PEOPLE are funding THEIR pensions while they escape consequences for their poor leadership

5
Ninki333 5 points ago +5 / -0

If you fire all the teachers instead of paying them for nothing then they will also want the schools open so they can make money. Just sayin.

5
MAGA_APN 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly- why are we paying for things like cafetira staff, janitors, traners, coaches...... they were put in the budget but not working. Also all the utility bills not being used????????

4
Barthaneous 4 points ago +4 / -0

Public schools should all be closed. Private schools then should be the only thing left. This way tax payers money would go back into their pockets and they can use that money to invest their kids in schools they think will teach their children the best. And all current public schools will be sold by organizations who wish to start private schools and thus the building will still be used.

3
Grady_Wilson 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not only will taxpayers never see a refund but most states are demanding more tax money to reopen the schools.

Why would they need hundreds of millions just to open facilities that were perfectly fine before the Scamdemic?

3
LoobintheToobin 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ahhh no wonder they want to keep the schools closed. More money for free filtered from the presents locked in their private prisons.

3
MythArcana 3 points ago +3 / -0

Shhhh. They have to funnel money somehow.

3
RPOZ28 3 points ago +3 / -0

Go to 100% on line classes. No more maintenance personnel, utilities, buses, fuel for buses, cafeteria employees. Have a single teacher for all the primary grades per district, and single teacher per subject in the secondary schools. Sell off all the brick and mortar schools.

3
Juantinntwo 3 points ago +3 / -0

You will be forced to realize the primary function of schools today is not to educate (that is secondary), but instead to free up both parents to go work so they can be paid less combined than what a single spouse use to take home on their own.

2
prophylactic 2 points ago +2 / -0

Why no refund? Deep blue state here. School districts have already spent all the money on frivolous things.

I am all for airtight fiscal policy, really one of the primary reasons I've voted Republican, but it sounds like someone missed the class on how the budget process, requisitions and emergency amendments work and just bought what the Heritage Foundation is shoveling. Dude glossed the supremacy clause too; education is run differently in every single state, so this process would play out in 50 different ways. Really, about 2 years of basic PoliSci education altogether would have informed this article enough to be useful. Wouldn't it be nice if it was so simple a dumb blogger could solve it in an article?

Taxation is theft.

The natural outcome is a slew of useless grifters.

2
HockeyMom4Trump 2 points ago +2 / -0

Weird. Here in MN they were just talking about how they needed to give schools 25 million in additional dollars.

2
BatmanForTrump 2 points ago +2 / -0

We're the ones that take this shit, a hundred years ago, mobs of patriots will at their city councils screaming, would've withheld their taxes and would dare the govt to do something and see what happens, how can we be willingly sending these fools our money yet not one single govt employee has missed a paycheck while they tell us that we don't have the right to earn a living and feed our families over a flu

2
MySidesGoUp 2 points ago +2 / -0

That’s the point. Govt institutions making it sweeter for the stakeholders/unions.

Our taxes are so stretched out and spent in ways we’ll never imagine. Just picture the govt giving you money back....

2
D0ntdrugtest 2 points ago +2 / -0

Same shit with vehicle Registration fees. And California gas tax should be waved

2
Top_Patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Because that would be logical

2
Juanye 2 points ago +2 / -0

Cuz they’re still paying all those fools

2
Coprolite 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've been saying this for a year.

2
CJ52 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't have kids, I shouldn't have to pay to educate or feed yours.

Sorry, not sorry.

When I went to school cellphones and calculators were confiscated.... now the schools issue kids iPads???

You laid down and had em, you pay for em.

1
Annpi 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sounds good until you realize schools will need money to reopen safely. If they give it to the citizens, then the federal government will have to give the states a bail out so they can afford to open the schools.

The city provides bus transport to private schools. You'd think that they would use the short buses or vans if the occupancy is so low. (Yes, I know all about the short bus jokes, but the least that they could do is attempt to save some fuel.)

3
Juantinntwo 3 points ago +3 / -0

Nah fuck that. Me and all my teacher friends want to go back but they gotta get rid of the 6ft rule so we can pack them all in together.

It’s the fucking China flu. We deal with it every year. Teachers have the best fucking immunity systems after being around nasty kids all day. Schools should have never shut down.

3
busybeagle 3 points ago +3 / -0

where'd the money go that was supposed to be used for 2020?
