These guys are federalized Nation Guard troops, in title 32 role only, so they cannot serve in police type capacities. Extremely unlikely that they would have live ammo. In title 10 role within their states they often will have live ammo, like at Kent State back in the 60s. I'm sure the guys and gals forced to be here hate it because they know they are just being used as props. They didn't sign up for that since the recruiters sell you on just being activated one weekend a month, two weeks active duty a year, and getting fantastic benefits.
