Vastly underestimating the massive complexity of making your own social networking platform.

Parler learned the hard way, Gab survived because they have been building the underlying infrastructure for years now. Hosting, servers, payment processing, even a web browser, all basically from scratch.

Thinking a free speech competitor can just come in overnight and take all the eyeballs is naïve. Trump knows this, which is why he hasn't just thrown some money at it to make it happen. Its more than just money.

Money plus being very well-connected can make things happen incredibly quickly. And we don't know whether Trump already had people working on this before the election. It was already obvious it would be needed.

Dont think he could constitutionally. It wouldn't even slow a leftist down but Trump actually cares about that.

Imagine Obama setting up regulations to throw a giant wrench into an industry while setting up a business that oh so magically happens to comply with all of those regulations already.

I don't think he would have launched it while in office, but he could afford to invest in extensive technical and logistical preparations even while expecting to delay the launch until early 2025.
