They made a mean DeLorean.

Lots of compromises to be sure (the engine and transmission interlinks were 'meh') but it wasn't 'just' a new car (from scratch) - but a 'floating' reconfigurable assembly line (first of it's kind) that Tesla adopted as well.

Note : Tesla's since moved beyond it with their gigafactories - but they started with John's assembly line method for the first roadster.

Oh and the DMC 12 was built during the height of the troubles - not a small feat in of itself.
