Hansen basically lied to the YT community and the victims of Onion boy by making it seem like the FBI was heavily involved and that some justice would be served.
Thanks to a massive blunder on Hansen's part, his assistant had held onto a laptop that had a lot of evidence on it from the FBI so everything got halted. And then he got involved with a questionable lawyer, and then the whole Onion thing went silent and the entire YT community and victims more or less got fed up with Chris' tik tocking the whole thing until jumping to a "fresh" story.
Then the documentary came out which showed Hansen was really only ever a part of the investigation for monetary gain. The documentary also included footage of the interviews with victims who asked to not be a part of the documentary, which Disc ignored and used the interviews anyway. They also gave Chris all the credit for shedding light on Onion despite many youtubers having called him out for years now. The Right Opinion has multiple part video series on him that's probably better than the documentary will ever be.
Hansen had a good thing many years ago and was rightly lauded for it. Now he's just a washed-up old conman who is not above having his critics doxxed along with their families (some of them underage - see Jon Swan).
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
We need to have Chris Hansen just walk into the DNC convention and do his thing.
Half the attendees would bolt for the doors as soon as Hansen walks in.
Didn't he make that Onision doc that made him look sympathetic though? Hansen may have some stuff in the closet we don't know about.
If it's corpses of pedophiles, I'm fine with that.

Chris Hansen is a washed up old drunk. He got evicted from his apartment and lied to get let back in etc. Dude is a grifting conman now.
