This is a bullshit argument. The "regulation", creating the monopoly was NOT removed. This is not the result of deregulation, this is the result of not having a lobbyist for the energy consumer. Now fuck off with your simpleton misunderstanding of price elasticity, plebe. The gouged consumers should send a payment for the KWh used times the previous bills rate per KWh and tell the electric company to pound sand on the difference. Get them (the gouged) to have their lobbyist buddies to open their wallet for that difference...
Sure, if they continue to regulate who gets to sell the power. regulation is an unending path of unfair. So dont bitch about one regulation removed when another just as unbalancing remains in effect.
Go look at Georgetown, TX and it's 100% reliance on renewables. Their website worked fine, but their outage map was down for days for some reason likely very embarrassing. I could find the numbers for their county though and just about a 1/3rd of all homes were without power on the 16th.
You're an idiot and you should stop getting your news from the Daily Show.
For November of 2020 wind generated more than twice as much as nuclear in Texas and more than half of what natural gas generated. From EIA.gov
https://www.eia.gov/state/?sid=TX#tabs-4
Wind generation accounted for nearly 23 percent of power generation for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in the first quarter of 2017, the Lone Star State grid operator said this week.
I also quoted a government agency in the US Energy Information Administration which had more recent numbers which showed how significant wind has become as a percentage of Texas' overall power generation. I don't know where you got such bad information, but you were wrong and rather than own up to listening to retards that have been gaslighting us all for years you instead doubled down.
You can see it again here in 2019 they have coal and wind neck and neck in the EIA's report for second behind natural gas, however more coal plants went off line in 2019 and 2020 in Texas while more wind power opened surpassing coal for second behind natural gas. The EIA was expecting additions of 5.0 GW in 2020 and 3.6 GW in 2021 for wind in Texas too while they're closing coal plants by now so it is the second largest source of power in Texas.
Fuck the Deregulation lies.
It is because the BOE would not let Texas increase output.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the lefty talking point of deregulation.

The bottom has the sources for the 5.0GW additions in 2020 and 3.6 GW claims here. https://www.evwind.es/2020/10/15/wind-energy-is-a-growing-part-of-the-electricity-mix-in-texas/77748
$9 per kWh, not $900.
So "deregulated" that 90% of the grid is managed by a bureaucratic non-profit.
