For apologizing. My letter to him below:

Sir, I find your trip to Cancun very disappointing. One - that you cut the trip short based on fear of perception. Two - that you apologized to the radical left.

Never apologize to them - people of double standards are not worth apologizing to. Nancy Pelosi did not apologize for her nail salon visit during a lockdown. It will never be enough for them - they will always have you backpedaling and judge you against values they don't hold Democrats to.

We are pragmatic people, not people of optics like the left. You have no operational role on the ground. Would have been better for you to tell a reporter from the beach "I encourage any Texan who has a safe place to go where there is heat, power, and water and who is not involved in restoration on the ground to do so until this crisis is over. Meanwhile I've been in contact with authorities and have done X, Y, and Z to mobilize support and from here I'm well able to continue to push for relief while also keeping my family safe and unburdening the utility system."

So a few points:

  1. You actually think he'd be able to move the meter more on restoration if he were on the ground? He's a senator, not a superman. His background is law, not power systems. Yet he has been helping in acquiring federal relief money, something that he could easily do from anywhere in the world.
  2. I think leaving the area if you're just there consuming resources and you have a safe place to go is a good idea for a natural disaster which caused failure of services
  3. Would you leave your family without power just for optics?

A lot of families didn't have power, he just rubbed it in all of their faces that his tax payer salary let's him escape the situation.

Pubic servants serve, they don't watch from a safe distance. He's a representative, how does this represent Texans?

He has an entire career of networking, favors, power, and authority. Even if it's just making calls or helping at his local church with them other Texans.

He acted like nobility above Texans, not a fellow Texan. Random civilians did more than him and he should be spit on for it. It's disgusting. I've had plenty of moments in my life where power goes out, there's a flood/fire, or an emergency. I've had neighbors stay at my house or worked with my church to help set up emergency shelters.

All hands on deck means ALL hands on deck.

Plus I just think it's messed up to be vacationing in Mexico at all. Can't vacation in America? Have to go larp as some aristocrat on some resort? Hell, maybe give back to the country in that small way and help a business that was hit by Lockdowns? America's First goes beyond just policy.
