Oppressed german civilians in the 30's & 40's had a damn good sense of humor. It helped them cope with the tyranny and recognize it for what it was.

Known as "whisper jokes", the people ridiculed their government and themselves. If the gestapo overheard the joke they could be sent to the camps.

Telling this joke literally got someone executed: "Hitler and Göring are standing on the Berlin Radio Tower. Hitler tells Göring he wants to do something to cheer up the people of Berlin. “Why don’t you just jump?” Göring suggests."

If you know your history and some german, this wikipedia article is a hoot! or use translate page browser feature.

Post your jokes so we can laugh together on our way to the gulag!

You know, it's interesting looking at Hitler's rise to power and the causes that facilitated such a dramatic political shift.

Weimar Germany. A country that had its economy totally destroyed to the point a day's wages were worthless by the time you got home. That had its entire academic sector compromised by the far-left Frankfurt School that promoted what we now call Cultural Marxism. A country where the easiest way up in the world was prostitution of one's whole body. Transvestism openly practiced, both as a "comedic" act and to fulfill one's degenerate sexual desires. Transgenderism written in books and called a legitimate science rather than lunacy from people in need of mental help.

Sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?
