Coca Cola may be shocked to hear but black people are overrepresented (at least in proportion to population) in hate crime charges. They are advocating for giving black males more jail time.

That said, in proportion to criminality is a different story. Hate crime legislation is almost always interpreted to not recognize “hateful” actions against whites, males, straight people, and Christians. They are extremely dysfunctional laws that are abused by the politics and pre-conceived notions that get injected into their enforcement. No matter who you are (unless you’re a judge or prosecutor), hate crime legislation is a losing prospect.
