I believe in climate change, but I understand that the public voices of climate change keep making shitty predictions that are based off of tangentially-scientific claims that are not part of the scientific consensus on climate change. These public figures, politicians, and journalists create skepticism towards climate change, and they exist on both the left and the right. The fundamental science around climate change is well-proven, but many of the predicted effects are not as is shown through the constantly moving goalposts for how long we have to act to prevent the end of the world.
All that being said, the modern political and social left tend to use the term "science" in much the same way that they use the terms "racist", "Nazi", and "white supremacist," which is to say that there is no meaning behind it when they say it.
Even scientific consensus is a lefty loaded term these days, and besides all it really takes in someone whose right about an idea and has repeatable, verifiable data to back it up. But when the people who own the media control the purse strings, they can buy consensus for their agenda.
