The spoke the truth? No, I dont think so. I will agree "most" parents are not as engaged in schools curriculum as they could be (notice I didnt say SHOULD be), if they were there would be a much different result than the bullshit common core, no one left behind, empty rhetoric. No parent thinks these morons are representatives of typical school boards across our nation. Ill also state A LOT OF GOOD PARENTS send their kids to public schools. A lot of those parents went to good public schools! What you miss in all of this is the decline in education SYSTEMS over the last 20 years. That is TOP DOWN bullshit programs forced to dumb down our youth. Thats how you end up with morons like this sitting in positions called school board. Remember they are elected, at least they are here where I live.

I'm not a parent but this is exactly what I think. I don't see public teachers as particularly educated. Academically I run circles around most of them in my spare time. The amount of work they put in to become certified highly paid professionals was so much less than I had to do in Engineering in college.

The amount of my idiot friends that became teachers is clear evidence of this. It's a deeper issue I think. We aren't giving any incentive for anyone that isn't in it "for the kids" to teach their craft. Some people have a level of brilliance that needs to be exposed to our youth, but there's literally zero incentive. I could teach any one of the classes my nephew is in, I'm a plumber.

I didn't become a plumber cause I'm dumb, or because it was a last resort. I did it because I knew I'd be guaranteed a decent living no matter what.

Most the people I know that became teachers did it because they were committed to education, with only the best intentions. Unfortunately they don't have the ability or backing to teach anything of value.

I don't know what the solution is, I'm just a shit chaser. But I'm more than aware that the whole situation is fucked and any kid these days in public school is facing the business end of a piss poor education
