I will "try" to answer this. Hope I don't step on anyone's feelings. It seems that back during the War between the States when the South (mostly democrat) owned slaves that they did keep the black man down. For many years after the Civil War, black men and women were kept to a lower degree for some unknown reason. Abe Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation to give the blacks their freedom as our Bill of Rights written in 1776 proclaimed that "All men are created equal." It did not state that only "white" men were. So for the last fifty years (give or take a few) Americans have tried (most have succeeded) to do away with racism and make ALL RACES equal in our great nation. However, there are those still left in the past who continually bring it up whenever there is an election of sorts. And the past is why and how the white people surpassed the blacks when it came to being successful. They were held in bondage while the white man gained in wealth which he passed down to his children, etc.
