Yeah for one thing, as soon as it landed, they had pictures from the lander on screen of the surface of Mars. Thing is, it takes 20 to 40 minutes to get a signal from Mars to Earth, depending on how close we are in orbit. So how could they have "the first surface pictures" in like a minute or so? I was watching a live broadcast or so they said.
It wasn't real-time control. The landing was entirely automated, and the "live" telemetry was delayed, so the lander would have already been on the surface before it indicated that it was entering the atmosphere.
That said, I know there was some fuckery with the moon landings because a retired NASA engineer told me the real story.

It's not all fake but they do fake some things.
