It is one of the hardest things to go through. It gets easier with time, but sometimes, when I look at pictures I get triggered. I wish dogs lived longer. When my boy had to be put down, I removed everything, that reminded me for a short time. When I felt stronger I brought stuff back. Took months to even look at his picture without getting worked up. Dogs are the best!
Sorry for your loss. It isn't easy and you never forget. Just keep the happy stuff close to your heart. I was in the same spot last year.
