Yes the gas "chambers" started out small in my post about the gas vans. Then they moved onto more "efficient" ways with Zyklon B in full sized rooms because the German high command demanded more "efficiency."
Yes the chambers were not as big as you would think, but they didn't need to be because after a few years they had "perfected" them. Plus there were dozens of camps.
It was a systematic process, as they first rounded them up into ghettos. From there, trains with 5000 would arrive a dozen times a day at the peak in 1944 at the larger camps.
The numbers would have been much much higher if they had the gas chambers any earlier than they did.
