I listened to Rush starting in the early 90's for 10 years. I hadn't listened to him much since then, because I just wasn't in the car from 12-3.
Back in the 90's, Rush wasn't a Christian conservative, by any objective measure .. Rush was a secular conservative.
He may have changed, especially when it became obvious that God is in control.
Did Rush ever admit to being duped (and duping his listeners) about the Bushes? Rush used his considerable media influence to felate that miserable, globalist, elitist, baby killing Bush family to no end. I can't forget that.
The alternative at the time may have been the Clinton cabal, or something worse. Rush knew the difference between wishful thinking and practical political goals. Look what happened with Ross Perot in 1992.
So on his death bed, Rush was unable to warn his conservative following about the Bushes because the Clintons might kill him?

He skewered the Clintons for years as well. He articulated the ideology of being pro-life better than anyone else during these years. I’m certain he like many, woke up to the harsh reality that B1 and B2 were not what everyone thought they were at the time. Trump opened the door to the harsh truth of these so-called Republican leaders. So stop acting like Rush was just playing games and entertaining. He was much more than that.

Trump started thinking about running for president at least back in 1987. If you knew Trump's history, you would know he had failures along with success, and that he didn't let his failures define him, but overcame them. THAT is how became as famous as he was. He was the comeback king. People who haven't failed have usually never faced severe adversity and thus are likely not to have the skills to overcome serious challenges. Even Ronald Reagan with all his political acumen and popularity didn't have the same skill set for taking on any challenge that Trump had. With the exception of Lincoln, few presidents have faced the adversity Trump did. Expecting your average politician (which is what Bush was) to have those skills is naive. Expecting every candidate to be anti-establishment is like expecting Trump to be polite - unnecessary and unrealistic. Trump understood that the GOP needs to learn to walk before they can run. Right now, there are some that can't even crawl, and you think Rush was wrong for endorsing someone who couldn't win an Olympic hurdling medal. Your understanding of history more than a few years ago is weak - probably because you were brainwashed in school, and didn't wake up until relatively recently. (I would guess around the time that Obama was elected for your awakening).

He changed the course of history by being the only wide-reaching voice that spoke out against the American left. Yeah, other voices came after him, but none of them would have existed if it wasn’t for Rush. He will be spoken of as a thought leader as important as Ben Franklin was to the American story.
Rush paved the way. Before him, it was like crossing the American frontier on horseback and fighting savages, wild animals, pestilence and severe weather along the way. After Rush - it was like a 4 lane highway for Conservative talk radio. Rush made sense to the average American worker. He spoke about the practical impact of leftist politics and explained the fundamental reasons leftism doesn't work. I remember one of Rush's shows where he called out Bill Clinton for saying that African Americans watch the same television as normal Americans,as if African Americans weren't normal. Rush picked up on the little details and the big picture. He was a visionary who hadn't lost his grounding in reality. I am thankful to have been able to listen to his shows for so long.

The Ben Franklin comparison is spot on. Rush made an extraordinary difference at such a foundational level that may have saved the Republic from collapsing due to the sheer number of people he was able to reach and instill the gift of conservatism in. He refused to bow down to the PC lynch mobs and this nation is 1,000x better for it.

I would not say that we have lost so much this year, but we are beginning to realize what we have never had. We don't have a Republic, and perhaps soon, not even a country.

You are on a site for Trump supporters. A lot of those supporters (almost certainly the vast majority) listened to Rush. Rush was a supporter of Trump and educator on the perils of liberalism. Much of the public sentiment against the corrupt Democrat system was brought about by the information from conservative sources. Rush Limbaugh was by far the strongest and one of the earliest of those sources of information. If Rush hadn't been there, the support for the MAGA movement would have been far weaker.
That's why. Educate yourself.

While what you say is true, it also requires people to totally ignore the fact that Rush was around much longer than MAGA and during all of that time supported what Trump would frame as “the swamp”.
Which alternative candidates would YOU have had Rush support? There was smelly slimy swamp and some patches of swamp that were slightly above ground. Most of the candidates were like choosing between Rosie O'Donnell and Kathy Griffin. Even if they had been anti-swamp, how would they have withstood their enemies? How hard did President Trump have to fight against the swamp? How many average non swamp politicians could have stood up to that? Lincoln's history indicated he could have.
How many of the people Trump supported for election turned out to be swamp creatures anyways?

If Trump thought he could have successfully bucked the entire system he wouldn't have agreed to stay within the GOP and would have run as an independent. He didn't.
