2016 Nobel Prize in medicine went to the doctor that did a great deal of research on the topic. Fasting spikes autophagey levels, produces stem cells and anti-aging/repairative hormones like BDNF and HGH. Doing a three day fast every month or so keeps cancer, heart disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s at bay. Recent research shows not eating food makes your DNA express itself differently, your body goes into a repair mode, perhaps we evolved this way?

Just research “autophagey and cancer”

I also believe I heard that cancer feeds on sugar in the blood so fasting and being in ketosis from time to time might help kill off any small cancer cells before they really get going.

Basically, a multiple day fast is like activating a person’s “on-board doctor” but it does more than that. Since you are a doctor, I believe you will really enjoy the mental benefits that come with a good long fast. You get sharper mentally. You can remember things better and stay concentrated longer in a faster state. You also look younger because HGH just does that to you.
