Back in the 1960s , the Gay mafia took over the seminaries where Catholic priests are trained. With that came the feminization of the clergy. When I was in Catholic grade school in the early 1960s, our parish priest was a roll model. He was a natural leader and later became a Bishop. By the time I was in college, our parish priest was an alcoholic that needed rehab every year and finally got caught going to a gay bar wearing a black leather suit.
Agreed fren. But I think that’s starting to change. Every young priest I know is pretty based. When the Boomer priests retire, I think the church will start changing for the better.
I was raised Episcopalian. We had a visiting priest from Ethiopia who I spent a lot of time talking to. He would tell stories about how Christians were violently persecuted and how they would fight back and protect each other.
It was a valuable lesson about how the book and the sword are very compatible.
Anecdotal, my uncle joined the Catholic seminary in the 60's, in NY. He left after two months - and till the day he died, said it was because "it was too gay".
