The whole love thy neighbor and the do unto others arguement has dominated the Christian narrative to the point that liberals use it as weapon.

I think that's partly to do with the church changing faces after the crusade and the inquisitions.

That's Paulianity. Christianity only lasted a short time before that moral space was retaken by Judaism via Saul/Paul. Much of the inherent weakness found in modern Christianity is a product of his work, and those who followed. In the 100 years after Jesus, much was twisted or deliberately inverted.

In short - the greatest trick the Devil ever played WASN'T convincing people he didn't exist, it was convincing people he WAS to be the object of worship.

Even shorter - modern Christianity is religious cuckoldry.

If you misunderstand Paul & St Augustine, then you miss the point of all of scripture. Ill agree with you that the church has been twisted out of shape but Augustine/Paul/Luther captured the core of Christ.
